Operations Manager for Municipal Health and Social Care, City of Gothenburg

About the Job Would you like to help develop Sweden's largest municipal health and social care service? We are now seeking an operations manager to lead an operational area within the municipal health and social care service in the City of Gothenburg. We offer you an exciting assignment with a focus on the future! Within the municipal health and social care service, over 1,200 employees work. We want to create opportunities for Gothenburg residents to live an independent and good life, well into old age or when health declines. We offer care and rehabilitation in home environments around the clock for patients of all ages living in ordinary housing, care and service facilities, or housing with special services. Each month we meet approximately 8,500 patients who have difficulty getting to their health center or need health and social care over a longer period. In your role as operations manager, you will lead and develop the operations together with colleagues for the greatest possible benefit to the residents. You contribute to ensuring that employees within your area of responsibility have the conditions to create good quality and equality for those we serve. You stay updated within the field specifically, but also within societal development generally. As more people live longer, more will need municipal health and social care—on their own terms. To succeed with this assignment in the coming years, we are developing new ways of working and the ability to think innovatively. Together with your colleagues, you contribute to the transition toward good and accessible care. As operations manager, you work on behalf of the department manager and are part of the department's management group. You lead your management group consisting of unit managers and a quality developer where you together drive operations forward. You collaborate with various operational areas, other departments, and external actors. Welcome to become part of an engaged team. Together we create the world's best city for a long and dignified life! About You We are seeking someone who is a licensed nurse, occupational therapist, or physiotherapist with at least five years of management experience. You may also have experience leading at a strategic level and have managed managers. If you have additionally worked within municipal operations, that is a merit. In the role of operations manager, it is important that you have the ability to lead based on the city's approach: we know our mission and who we serve, we care, we work together, and we think innovatively. You have the ability to develop a culture that creates trust, transparency, and a good work environment. You create systems and conditions for good communication and dialogue both within the organization, with labor representatives, and with external actors and the surrounding society. Furthermore, you have the ability to work together with others to complete tasks and reach goals. You promote a respectful work climate, understand the shared mission, and act accordingly. You can oversee your area of responsibility and put your own operations' significance in a larger context. You are comfortable in social situations, both informal and formal. You stand by decisions made and can convey difficult messages when necessary. You see change management as a natural part of leadership as demographic development and the transition to accessible care require new ways of working. Interviews are planned for September 25th at Zirkongatan in Tynnered, Gothenburg. After that, we will select candidates we want to send for a full-day Assessment Center at Skånegatan 10, Gothenburg on either October 5th or 6th. Welcome with your application! The program complements the regular child health care program and provides families with six home visits during the child's first 15 months. Previous studies have examined the implementation of the program in Gothenburg and its short-term effects for parents and children. The current research project constitutes a long-term follow-up that aims to examine the effects and experiences of the program over time. The study follows children and parents until the children are five years old and focuses on long-term outcomes regarding children's health and development, parents' trust in health care and other societal actors, and perceived parenting competence. The project also includes a health economic analysis. Duties As a researcher in the project, you will have a central role in driving and coordinating one of the sub-studies within the research project. The work includes planning and conducting a survey study with parents at child health centers and family centers in prioritized areas in Gothenburg. You will collaborate with professionals in both child health care and preventive social services, and have direct contact with parents speaking different languages with varying levels of literacy. The position requires excellent skills in Excel and SPSS as well as documented experience with both quantitative and qualitative research methods. Excellent knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written, is required, as is good knowledge of Somali and/or Arabic. You must also have previous experience working with parents and small children in health care or social services. Additionally, documented experience in starting up operations, designing routines, managing projects, and handling administration in research activities or similar is required. It is meritorious if you hold Swedish psychology credentials and have documented experience in project management or leadership of research groups in developmental psychology research projects. Current knowledge in developmental psychology, particularly with focus on early development and health-promoting and preventive interventions for children and parents, is considered particularly meritorious. Selection Process When selecting qualified applicants, the candidate will be chosen who, after a comprehensive assessment of competence and development potential, is deemed to have the best qualifications to carry out the work described above. Additionally, personal qualities such as planning ability, independence, and communication skills will be considered. The selection process may include interviews and reference checks. These steps will, if applicable, also form the basis for the assessment. Employment The position is a fixed-term special employment at 20% until 2027-12-31, with placement at the Department of Psychology for the time being. Start date as soon as possible by agreement. Work location will be arranged by agreement between employer and employee.
