Group Manager Infrastructure at the Faculty of Law

Lund University was founded in 1666 and is consistently ranked as one of the world's leading institutions of higher education. The university has approximately 46,000 students and 8,500 employees in Lund, Helsingborg, and Malmö. We are united in our mission to understand, explain, and improve our world and people's conditions. About the IT and Infrastructure Department The department's mission includes both the faculty's IT operations, including operation and management of systems and IT environments, and the faculty's infrastructure in a broad sense, such as premises, furnishings, equipment, physical work environment, security, events, facility maintenance, and reception services. Following a period of interim management, the faculty has decided to establish a permanent group manager position for infrastructure within the department. The department is led by a department manager who reports to the faculty's prefect. The department manager has overall responsibility for the entire department and is operationally responsible for IT operations. As group manager for infrastructure, you will be responsible for the operational management of the infrastructure division, work in close cooperation with the department manager, and actively contribute to the department's operational development. Within the infrastructure area, there is one full-time expedition manager and two administrative assistants working part-time (40%) while pursuing their studies. The expedition manager is responsible for operational work within the facility management function, including mail and office supply handling, digital print production, and tasks related to the physical work environment. The administrative assistants primarily work with infrastructure matters and events, but also work closely with the group manager on planning, coordination, and follow-up. The faculty's reception, which is a business-critical and extensive operation open seven days a week, also falls under infrastructure. The reception is staffed by 14 assistants working part-time (25%) while pursuing their studies and supervised in daily operations by three coordination assistants (50%). The assistant organization is characterized by a high degree of independence. Duties and Responsibilities To strengthen the leadership, coordination, and development of the faculty's infrastructure operations, we are now seeking an operational manager who can combine operational responsibility with employer responsibility. You will have employer responsibility for approximately 20 employees: one expedition manager, two administrative assistants, and the reception's assistant organization with approximately 17 employees, including three coordination assistants. Work at the Interface Between Infrastructure and IT The Faculty of Law has chosen to combine IT and infrastructure into a common department because several business-critical functions lie at the interface between these areas. This includes printer environments, AV technology, and integrated alarm and access control systems. We are therefore looking for someone who not only has experience in traditional facility management or physical infrastructure, but also has solid experience with IT, technology, and system-related matters and the operational breadth required to work operatively in an environment where these areas partially overlap. Qualifications You should have: management experience and documented leadership training documented experience in work supervision in operations where employees work with a high degree of independence and personal responsibility documented experience in establishing and further developing structures, routines, and working methods solid experience with IT, technology, and system-related matters, as well as documented experience working at the interface between IT, technology, and physical infrastructure documented experience representing the operation in dialogue and negotiation with suppliers, contractors, and property owners documented experience in facility management and administration documented experience working with physical work environment, safety, fire protection, and risk assessments very good proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written Personal Qualities To succeed in this role, you need to be a relationship builder who collaborates well with many different groups, from students and teachers to technical staff, external partners, and government functions. You are proactive, responsive, and action-oriented, with strong organizational ability and comfort working in a complex operation with many points of contact. You identify opportunities for improvement in the operation's working methods, physical environment, and safety work, and drive change independently. You have good understanding of the special conditions that characterize operations and the work environment in academia. Your leadership is characterized by accountability, clear communication, and present support. You build trust through openness and transparency, draw on your employees' experience and creativity, and contribute to an open and safe work climate. You are prepared to work operatively when needed. Since the group includes assistants working part-time alongside their studies and remaining for a limited time, you need to combine structure, support, and trust. You are confident in supervising an independent and competent group where work is characterized by personal responsibility, high standards, and many points of contact. You have the ability to create continuity, quality, and knowledge transfer in an organization with high staff turnover. You see the big picture easily, can shift between different perspectives, and create working solutions in cooperation with others. You don't need to know everything, but you are curious, unpretentious, and open to learning new things. Special weight will be given to personal suitability. Other Information The job posting has been shortened on Platsbanken. Read the full posting here: https://www.lu.se/vacancies Employment begins October 1, 2026, or by agreement. The Faculty of Law is one of Lund University's four original faculties. The faculty has approximately 2,000 students at undergraduate and advanced levels and about 160 employees, of whom about 40 are doctoral students. Clinical Studies Sweden - Forum South is a unique regional support function with a mission to support and promote clinical research in the Southern Healthcare Region. We provide support and services to researchers, research staff, and life science companies conducting clinical studies in healthcare. Through our work, we strive to make Sweden an attractive country for conducting clinical studies, which contribute to the development of new and innovative products and treatment methods, benefiting patients and society. WORK RESPONSIBILITIES As an EU Advisor, you are the Grants Office's expert resource for the EU Framework Programme (Horizon Europe, EU4Health, IMI/IHI) and related European programs relevant to financing Region Skåne's clinical research. You support clinical research groups from the very earliest idea phase, in consortium building, call matching, through to submitted applications and, if approved, project launch. You work proactively by monitoring upcoming calls, building networks with potential consortium partners, and identifying research groups within Region Skåne with potential to take coordinator roles in EU projects. Approximately 20 percent of your working time is allocated for outreach networking and consortium development work. Your work responsibilities include: • Monitoring and interpreting upcoming calls within relevant areas, such as Horizon Europe Cluster 1 (Health), Missions, EU4Health, and IMI/IHI, as well as upcoming framework programs (FP10) • Providing individual advisory support to research groups in call selection, consortium partners, and application strategy • Actively supporting partner searches by identifying relevant European partners and positioning Region Skåne in ongoing consortium processes, as well as participating in match-making events • Reviewing and providing feedback on application texts' scientific rigor, logic, and alignment with funder evaluation criteria • Collaborating with colleagues during the application process for application coordination and budget planning • Participating in and representing Region Skåne at European network meetings, information days, and partner meetings • Supporting post-grant launch for approved EU projects, specifically with consortium and project agreement administration and kick-off preparations • Training research groups and internal teams on EU program structure, logic, and requirements • Building and maintaining contacts with Region Skåne's development unit, EU office, and Lund University Region's Brussels office. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone who has: • University/higher education in life sciences such as medicine, health sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, or natural sciences, or equivalent education that we consider relevant for the position • Experience working with EU-funded projects, preferably Horizon Europe/Horizon 2020 • Very good understanding of EU project logic and budget models • Experience working in the EU Funding & Tenders Portal • Excellent ability to write and provide feedback on scientific and technical texts in English of high quality • Experience managing multiple parallel projects, completing and delivering tasks according to specified deadlines. It is meritorious if you have: • Experience as a project coordinator or work package leader in a Horizon project • Established and active relationships with National Contact Points for EU research programs • A doctoral degree or experience as a clinical or medical researcher • Knowledge of the clinical research environment, authorization requirements, and GCP regulations • Established contacts in European clinical research networks (ECRIN, EATRIS, ERN, etc.) • Experience in partner searches via CORDIS, Horizon Results Platform, or similar tools • Experience with funding instruments from foreign funders, such as American agencies (for example, NIH and DoD). Researchers' needs are at the center of your work, and through genuine service focus and strong communication skills, you build trust throughout the application process. You do not see complex call texts as obstacles but as opportunities, and you easily translate them into concrete advice and strategies that engage and inspire clinical researchers. Building and developing relationships comes naturally to you. With a proactive work approach, you thrive in a European context with many external contact points and collaborations. You value teamwork while independently driving your work forward based on agreed goals and strategies. The role demands structure, good prioritization skills, and the ability to remain calm even when timeframes are tight. You understand that researchers' ability to engage in an EU application is often limited and adapt your support accordingly. A strong driving force is to contribute to increased visibility and success of clinical research "Made in Skåne" in European contexts. You want to help strengthen Region Skåne's position not only as a partner in international projects but also as a coordinator and leading actor. We place great importance on personal suitability.
