Clinical Studies Sweden - Forum South is a unique regional support function with a mission to support and promote clinical research in the Southern Healthcare Region. We provide support and services to researchers, research staff, and life science companies conducting clinical studies in healthcare. Through our work, we strive to make Sweden an attractive country for conducting clinical studies, which contribute to the development of new and innovative products and treatment methods, benefiting patients and society. Forum South also serves as a regional node for the Southern Healthcare Region within the national collaboration Clinical Studies Sweden, which is supported by the Swedish Research Council. Our operations include approximately forty employees and are located at Skåne University Hospital in Lund.

WORK RESPONSIBILITIES
As an EU Advisor, you are the Grants Office's expert resource for the EU Framework Programme (Horizon Europe, EU4Health, IMI/IHI) and related European programs relevant to financing Region Skåne's clinical research. You support clinical research groups from the very earliest idea phase, in consortium building, call matching, through to submitted applications and, if approved, project launch. You work proactively by monitoring upcoming calls, building networks with potential consortium partners, and identifying research groups within Region Skåne with potential to take coordinator roles in EU projects. Approximately 20 percent of your working time is allocated for outreach networking and consortium development work.
Your work responsibilities include:
• Monitoring and interpreting upcoming calls within relevant areas, such as Horizon Europe Cluster 1 (Health), Missions, EU4Health, and IMI/IHI, as well as upcoming framework programs (FP10)
• Providing individual advisory support to research groups in call selection, consortium partners, and application strategy
• Actively supporting partner searches by identifying relevant European partners and positioning Region Skåne in ongoing consortium processes, as well as participating in match-making events
• Reviewing and providing feedback on application texts' scientific rigor, logic, and alignment with funder evaluation criteria
• Collaborating with colleagues during the application process for application coordination and budget planning
• Participating in and representing Region Skåne at European network meetings, information days, and partner meetings
• Supporting post-grant launch for approved EU projects, specifically with consortium and project agreement administration and kick-off preparations
• Training research groups and internal teams on EU program structure, logic, and requirements
• Building and maintaining contacts with Region Skåne's development unit, EU office, and Lund University Region's Brussels office.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who has:
• University/higher education in life sciences such as medicine, health sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, or natural sciences, or equivalent education that we consider relevant for the position
• Experience working with EU-funded projects, preferably Horizon Europe/Horizon 2020
• Very good understanding of EU project logic and budget models
• Experience working in the EU Funding & Tenders Portal
• Excellent ability to write and provide feedback on scientific and technical texts in English of high quality
• Experience managing multiple parallel projects, completing and delivering tasks according to specified deadlines.
It is meritorious if you have:
• Experience as a project coordinator or work package leader in a Horizon project
• Established and active relationships with National Contact Points for EU research programs
• A doctoral degree or experience as a clinical or medical researcher
• Knowledge of the clinical research environment, authorization requirements, and GCP regulations
• Established contacts in European clinical research networks (ECRIN, EATRIS, ERN, etc.)
• Experience in partner searches via CORDIS, Horizon Results Platform, or similar tools
• Experience with funding instruments from foreign funders, such as American agencies (for example, NIH and DoD).
Researchers' needs are at the center of your work, and through genuine service focus and strong communication skills, you build trust throughout the application process. You do not see complex call texts as obstacles but as opportunities, and you easily translate them into concrete advice and strategies that engage and inspire clinical researchers.
Building and developing relationships comes naturally to you. With a proactive work approach, you thrive in a European context with many external contact points and collaborations. You value teamwork while independently driving your work forward based on agreed goals and strategies.
The role demands structure, good prioritization skills, and the ability to remain calm even when timeframes are tight. You understand that researchers' ability to engage in an EU application is often limited and adapt your support accordingly. A strong driving force is to contribute to increased visibility and success of clinical research "Made in Skåne" in European contexts. You want to help strengthen Region Skåne's position not only as a partner in international projects but also as a coordinator and leading actor. We place great importance on personal suitability.
