Lund University was founded in 1666 and is consistently ranked as one of the world's leading institutions of higher education. The university has approximately 46,000 students and 8,500 employees in Lund, Helsingborg, and Malmö. We are united in our mission to understand, explain, and improve our world and people's conditions. About the IT and Infrastructure Department The department's mission includes both the faculty's IT operations, including operation and management of systems and IT environments, and the faculty's infrastructure in a broad sense, such as premises, furnishings, equipment, physical work environment, security, events, facility maintenance, and reception services. Following a period of interim management, the faculty has decided to establish a permanent group manager position for infrastructure within the department. The department is led by a department manager who reports to the faculty's prefect. The department manager has overall responsibility for the entire department and is operationally responsible for IT operations. As group manager for infrastructure, you will be responsible for the operational management of the infrastructure division, work in close cooperation with the department manager, and actively contribute to the department's operational development. Within the infrastructure area, there is one full-time expedition manager and two administrative assistants working part-time (40%) while pursuing their studies. The expedition manager is responsible for operational work within the facility management function, including mail and office supply handling, digital print production, and tasks related to the physical work environment. The administrative assistants primarily work with infrastructure matters and events, but also work closely with the group manager on planning, coordination, and follow-up. The faculty's reception, which is a business-critical and extensive operation open seven days a week, also falls under infrastructure. The reception is staffed by 14 assistants working part-time (25%) while pursuing their studies and supervised in daily operations by three coordination assistants (50%). The assistant organization is characterized by a high degree of independence. Duties and Responsibilities To strengthen the leadership, coordination, and development of the faculty's infrastructure operations, we are now seeking an operational manager who can combine operational responsibility with employer responsibility. You will have employer responsibility for approximately 20 employees: one expedition manager, two administrative assistants, and the reception's assistant organization with approximately 17 employees, including three coordination assistants. Work at the Interface Between Infrastructure and IT The Faculty of Law has chosen to combine IT and infrastructure into a common department because several business-critical functions lie at the interface between these areas. This includes printer environments, AV technology, and integrated alarm and access control systems. We are therefore looking for someone who not only has experience in traditional facility management or physical infrastructure, but also has solid experience with IT, technology, and system-related matters and the operational breadth required to work operatively in an environment where these areas partially overlap. Qualifications You should have: management experience and documented leadership training documented experience in work supervision in operations where employees work with a high degree of independence and personal responsibility documented experience in establishing and further developing structures, routines, and working methods solid experience with IT, technology, and system-related matters, as well as documented experience working at the interface between IT, technology, and physical infrastructure documented experience representing the operation in dialogue and negotiation with suppliers, contractors, and property owners documented experience in facility management and administration documented experience working with physical work environment, safety, fire protection, and risk assessments very good proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written Personal Qualities To succeed in this role, you need to be a relationship builder who collaborates well with many different groups, from students and teachers to technical staff, external partners, and government functions. You are proactive, responsive, and action-oriented, with strong organizational ability and comfort working in a complex operation with many points of contact. You identify opportunities for improvement in the operation's working methods, physical environment, and safety work, and drive change independently. You have good understanding of the special conditions that characterize operations and the work environment in academia. Your leadership is characterized by accountability, clear communication, and present support. You build trust through openness and transparency, draw on your employees' experience and creativity, and contribute to an open and safe work climate. You are prepared to work operatively when needed. Since the group includes assistants working part-time alongside their studies and remaining for a limited time, you need to combine structure, support, and trust. You are confident in supervising an independent and competent group where work is characterized by personal responsibility, high standards, and many points of contact. You have the ability to create continuity, quality, and knowledge transfer in an organization with high staff turnover. You see the big picture easily, can shift between different perspectives, and create working solutions in cooperation with others. You don't need to know everything, but you are curious, unpretentious, and open to learning new things. Special weight will be given to personal suitability.
