Älvkarleby Municipality has three municipal primary schools: Rotskärsskolan F–9, Sörgärdets School F–6 and Bodaskolan F–6. As a school librarian, you are organizationally placed within the Culture and Recreation Administration and are part of the public library's team. At the same time, you work on assignment for the school and will be active in the municipality's various schools. The role therefore requires a flexible approach and a good ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries. You work closely with school management, teachers and students to create libraries that function as living and inclusive learning environments and contribute to students' knowledge development. Responsibilities With the public library as your base, you plan, drive and develop school library activities in close cooperation with the primary school and public library. During the establishment phase, you are part of the library's team while having a particular focus on school library development. In this role, you will: Build up and develop school library activities in the municipality. Stimulate children's and young people's reading enthusiasm and interest in literature. Support students' reading development, information searching and critical source evaluation skills. Collaborate with teachers and integrate the school library into teaching. Develop the library's digital resources and work with the library catalog. Guide students on information searching, digital competence and use of AI. Plan and implement activities that strengthen the library's role in student learning. You are someone who enjoys meeting children and young people, inspiring them to read and creating engagement around literature and knowledge. You have the ability to explain complex issues such as source criticism, information management and digital tools in a pedagogical and accessible way. Qualifications We are looking for someone who has: A degree in library and information science or other education that the employer considers equivalent. Experience working with children and young people is an asset. Good digital competence and an interest in using and developing digital tools. Ability to work independently, take initiative and drive development work. Good collaborative skills and professional conduct. A strong interest in reading promotion work, literature and knowledge organization. As a person, you are creative, engaged and receptive. You enjoy building relationships, creating collaboration and developing activities together with others.
