Key ResponsibilitiesAs a team member, you will work with various tools and techniques and collaborate with many different groups. The PhD student will fabricate ultra-high-quality van der Waals heterostructures at Lund Nano Lab and study them using electronic measurements and microwave measurements at low temperatures. The PhD student will also contribute to establishing a new experimental laboratory, including infrastructure for van der Waals component fabrication and installation of a dilution refrigerator reaching temperatures below 10 mK, equipped with a 14 T magnet and connections for both DC and radiofrequency measurements. The position provides extensive practical experience in nanofabrication, cryogenic measurement techniques, microwave electronics, data analysis, and quantum component physics. The PhD student will be an important part of a collaborative research team and will collaborate with research groups at Lund University and leading international institutions. The project combines fundamental quantum physics with a technology-oriented approach to develop new types of nanoelectronic and quantum components. The position requires that you are service-oriented and have strong communication skills. You need to be detail-oriented in your work tasks. It is very important that you take responsibility and are self-driven in carrying out your duties. You will work partly alone during evenings, and you need to be comfortable with this. Great weight will be placed on personal suitability. Working Hours Working hours are mainly scheduled for two regular afternoons/evenings per week, preferably on Wednesdays and Fridays. There are limited opportunities to exchange shifts. Any additional working hours will be arranged in consultation with the organization. Vacation days are taken by agreement and in accordance with the organization's needs. Other Information The employment is time-limited from October 5, 2026 through January 17, 2027 or by agreement and constitutes 18% full-time employment. Workplace Description The Department of Laboratory Medicine (ILM) is one of six departments at the Faculty of Medicine. We conduct leading research in the field of laboratory medicine with a focus on understanding disease development and improving diagnostics and treatment for patients.
