Duties Avesta Municipality launched a school social team in 2024 in project form and has seen positive effects of the work, which is why we are now choosing to hire a social worker to the team on a full-time basis. The school social team is a collaboration between the Education Administration and Social Services, and you will work in a team with employees from the school. As a social worker in the municipality's school social team, your role will be to work through early interventions to promote school attendance. The school social team works to support and help students in grades 4-9 with repeated, long-term school absence so they can achieve eligibility for upper secondary school. You will work with attendance-promoting measures, preventive measures and targeted interventions for students who have high absence rates. In your work you will among other things use motivational conversations with the student, parenting support and work with social adjustments or social change work with the student or their parents. Your job title will be family worker. Qualifications We are looking for someone who is trained as a social worker and who has previous experience of working with social work with children and young people. Since you will be working in all of the municipality's schools grades 4-9, a class B driving license for a manual transmission vehicle is a requirement. It is an advantage if you have training and experience in working with motivational conversations (MI). Training and experience in family therapy is also an advantage, for example functional family therapy (FFT). Experience from adapted primary or upper secondary school and work with students with extensive support needs is a merit. We view positively knowledge and experience in, for example, AAC, TAKK, clarifying pedagogy, communication support, and work with students who lack or have limited spoken language.
