The ICU cares for approximately 1,500 patients per year, of which approximately 500 are ICU patients. C-op and DKM perform a total of approximately 4,500-5,000 surgeries per year, primarily general surgery and orthopedics, but also some urology. Work Tasks At the Central Operating Room (C-op), primarily elective procedures are performed in our five operating rooms during daytime hours; additionally, emergency operations are handled by a surgical team 24 hours a day, year-round. C-op has its own recovery unit (UVA) where patients are cared for before and after surgery. Day Surgery Mora (DKM) conducts elective procedures in two operating rooms during daytime hours, Monday through Friday. At DKM, we receive patients from home, prepare them for surgery, and care for patients after surgery in our recovery unit.
