JOB RESPONSIBILITIES As a building inspector with us, you will become a key person in a team of five employees working on behalf of the community development committee. We are a small but well-functioning unit where collaboration and support are central. Here you have the opportunity to work broadly and independently in a smaller municipality with short decision-making processes while making a difference for the municipality's development. Your primary responsibility is to ensure a secure and legally sound building process by handling notifications, inspections, and consultations in accordance with the Planning and Building Act (PBL). You will be out in the field regularly to follow up on construction projects, provide advice, and ensure that applicable regulations are followed. At the same time, you will have the opportunity to develop within the entire building permit process, from advisory services and review to decision-making. Your most important tasks as a building inspector are to: • Conduct site visits, technical consultations, and final consultations throughout the building process. • Provide advice and service to citizens, businesses, and other stakeholders on matters concerning the building process, PBL, and applicable legislation. • Collaborate with colleagues in physical planning, environment, and health protection to create a comprehensive approach to community development. • Contribute specialist knowledge to the municipality's planning work and develop methods to ensure quality and legal certainty. To broaden your role and give you development opportunities, we would like you to also: • Handle building permit matters in accordance with PBL, PBF, and Boverkets regulations, from document review to decision-making. • Work with supervision matters, including follow-up on completed measures and investigation of any deviations. We are seeking an inspector with good knowledge of planning and building legislation and a strong desire to contribute to our development. In this role, you will make independent decisions, write official reports, and prepare matters for the committee. You will be involved in development and digitalization matters within the administration. The position is a permanent employment where a probationary period may be applied. QUALIFICATIONS Education and experience: • Have a higher education or vocational degree in construction engineering, architecture, law, community development, or equivalent education that the employer considers equivalent. • Have practical experience in the building process, preferably from a municipality or other government agency. • Have good knowledge of current building legislation, including PBL, PBF, and Boverkets new regulations (replacing BBR). Competencies and characteristics: • Are self-directed, meticulous, and confident in making decisions supported by legislation and legal practice. • Have good service skills. You enjoy and are good at meeting people and can communicate clearly, professionally, and pedagogically both in writing and orally. • Thrive in a role that combines office work with field inspection work. • Have a solution-oriented work approach and see the bigger picture in community development matters. • Have good digital competence and experience working with different programs and systems, as well as strong knowledge of Swedish in both speech and writing. Meritorious: • Experience in handling and decision-making in building permit matters in accordance with PBL, PBF, and Boverkets regulations. • Experience from municipal decision-making processes, government administration, and working with digital tools within the building permit process and work in a politically governed organization. • Legal experience or education, particularly within planning and building legislation.
