Make a Difference as Unit Manager for Employment and Income Support

The Individual and Family Care unit (IFO) at the Social Services Department is responsible for municipal administration within the areas of children and youth, substance abuse, social psychiatry, income support, and family law. The unit is also responsible for major parts of implementing open care according to the Social Services Act, as well as the municipality's responsibility for receiving newly arrived residents and providing services to people outside the job market. We are now seeking two new management colleagues. About the Workplace The Employment and Income Support unit consists of several operational areas managed by two managers and three supervisors. The managers have their own areas of responsibility and clearly divided personnel responsibility. One manager is responsible for financial assistance and employment initiatives. The other is responsible for receiving income support, budget and debt counseling, receiving newly arrived residents, and housing-related social matters. The areas of responsibility currently encompass approximately 10 and 20 employees respectively. Job Duties As a unit manager, you will have personnel, operational, and budget responsibility. You will work on developing high-quality support for residents in need of the board's assistance according to the Social Services Act and the Placement Act. The role includes responsibility for legally sound handling of applications and implementation of employment initiatives, and where applicable, representing the board in court. In the management team, you are an important part of the work with strategic development and coordination within Individual and Family Care. The management team works collaboratively and together with employees to develop new forms of cross-boundary work both within and outside the unit. Collaboration across unit and operational boundaries is one of the focus areas in order to create high-quality services with good treatment. Qualifications We are looking for someone with an academic education, at least a bachelor's degree such as a social work degree or other education that the employer deems equivalent. You should have experience working in municipal administration relevant to the field, have worked in a supervisory function, and have work experience from a politically governed organization. You must be fluent in Swedish, both spoken and written, and have digital skills. We would like it if you have work experience as a manager, have completed leadership training, and hold a class B driver's license. You have a strong interest in developing various sustainable solutions and see the value in doing so together with your team, by utilizing the strength and broad expertise available within the Social Services Department and Ale municipality.
