Psychologist
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service (Statens institutionsstyrelse, SiS) is an authority responsible for individualized compulsory care for youth and adults with substance abuse issues. We operate youth homes and facilities for adults with substance abuse throughout the country. Working at SiS means your professional life will be an exciting challenge. Regardless of where in our organization you work or what position you hold, you contribute to creating vital change.
SiS youth home Fagared serves non-compulsory school age boys with psychosocial problems, criminal behavior, and substance abuse issues. We have units in Lindome, Öxnevalla, and Gothenburg.
Job Description
We are seeking a psychologist with an interest in youth and treatment of antisocial behavior for an exciting, developmental, and vital assignment. Fagared has 8 units with capacity for 48 youth. Six units are located in Lindome, one in Gothenburg, and one in Öxnevalla (Horred). The target group at Fagared consists of youth with psychosocial problems such as substance abuse and criminal behavior who are placed in compulsory care by social services (LVU) as well as youth serving closed youth detention (LSU).
You will be part of a healthcare team consisting of five psychologists and two nurses. Fagared's psychologists work across multiple units and at all facilities as needed.
Working as a psychologist at SiS involves varied tasks. As a psychologist at SiS, you will conduct assessment interviews upon admission to the facility, suicide risk assessments, psychiatric and neuropsychiatric evaluations, and assessments of risk factors, treatment needs, and treatment receptiveness. Psychological treatment may be included to some extent in your duties. You will also participate in treatment planning and in the facility's competency development through lectures and consultation with staff on psychological matters. At Fagared, care staff are trained in Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) where psychologists are responsible for training and conducting TIC consultations with unit staff. Other training programs such as suicide prevention and target group profiling are included.
Work is carried out in collaboration with engaged and competent professionals from various disciplines. You will be part of the treatment team for each youth alongside the unit manager, treatment secretary, treatment coordinator, teachers, and nurses, contributing a psychological perspective to this work.
Working as a psychologist at SiS requires strong collaborative skills, prioritization abilities, and the capacity to work independently. You will also maintain close contact with your psychology colleagues and collaborate with external partners and other institutions.
SiS values psychological expertise, which provides opportunities for development in areas that interest you. You will also be part of a network of psychologists from SiS institutions across the country who meet annually for joint competency development.
