Assistant Principal at Ösby Naturbruksgymnasium, Sala Municipality

Are you an educational leader passionate about student development, who enjoys hands-on environments and wants to help shape the future of agricultural education? As Assistant Principal, you'll be part of the school's leadership team. We're looking for an experienced leader who is skilled in relational work, experienced in handling student matters, student health services, personnel issues, and driving pedagogical development. About the Workplace Westmanland's agricultural upper secondary school is located in the beautiful Saladamm area, 7 km outside Sala. The school offers the Agricultural Program with specializations in forestry, animals, horses, and farming, as well as the Construction Program with specializations in building construction, tile laying, and painting. We have approximately 250 students at the school. There is also an adapted upper secondary program with approximately 40 students. The school operates a farm that provides practical work assignments for the education. The farm covers approximately 240 hectares of farmland with varied crop cultivation and animal husbandry. Animal husbandry includes milk production with approximately 120 cows and teaching stables with horses, pigs/piglets, and various types of companion animals and zoo animals. The school also has a residential facility with approximately 100 boarding students. Responsibilities Together with the Principal and leadership team, you will be responsible for the school's planning. We work extensively on creating conditions to ensure systematic quality work and occupational health efforts. Leadership, analysis, and follow-up will occupy parts of your time. Collaboration meetings both internally within Sala Municipality and externally with industry organizations and partners are part of the position. You will have personnel responsibility. Your focus will be working closely with students, handling student matters, planning and following up for students who need alternative pathways than the regular curriculum. You will also be responsible for pedagogical development work with support from the Principal. Respond for and drive pedagogical development together with work teams and teachers Lead and coordinate work within student health and safety matters at the school Follow up on results, quality, and work processes based on the school's governing documents Be present in the operations and provide support to teachers and other staff Participate in and occasionally lead various development projects related to teaching and learning environments Collaborate with the Principal on planning, organization, and long-term school development Personnel responsibility Qualifications We're looking for someone confident in your pedagogical expertise and leadership, where you are clear and receptive, and enjoy working with many different contacts. You are curious about how we can make the school even more equitable, health-promoting, and person-centered, and you feel at home in both the classroom and the conference room. You have higher education with a pedagogical focus. You are knowledgeable in the school's governing documents, and it is meritorious if you have completed or begun the state principal training program. We also see that previous leadership experience in schools, preferably in upper secondary education, is important for successfully handling the assignment. Your interest in and competence in working research-based and based on proven experience characterizes your approach. Managing multiple priorities and driving processes are important parts of the assignment, where your work style is characterized by your flexibility and quality awareness. Systematic quality and development work is something that interests you, and you should be good at communicating. You are a clear leader, collaborate easily, enjoy creating participation, and are a team player. Understanding what it means to work in municipal operations is meritorious. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability. Furthermore, you need a class B driver's license and access to a car. Assistant Principal, Vallaskolan F-6

Assistant Principal at Vallaskolan F–6 Sala Municipality in eastern Västmanland has approximately 22,600 residents and is the largest municipality in the county by area. Sala city has approximately 13,000 residents and is known for the Sala Silver Mine. Vallaskolan F–6 moved into a new school building in 2020. The school has two classes in preschool class and three classes in each grade 1–6. All grades have their own home bases with classrooms, common areas, and group rooms. The facilities are bright, modern, and designed for a good work environment. The school has a student health team with special education teachers, specialist teachers, school nurse, counselor, and behavioral specialist. There is access to a school psychologist at the central level. Our well-equipped and staffed school library is an important part of the educational activities. At Vallaskolan, we work to ensure that all students receive instruction that meets their different needs and circumstances. A differentiated and language-developing approach is an important part of instruction. We place great emphasis on good learning environments and providing students with tools for lifelong learning. RESPONSIBILITIES As assistant principal, you are part of the school's leadership and work closely with the principal to lead and develop Vallaskolan F–6. Together with staff, you develop instruction, learning environments, and approaches, as well as strengthen collaboration between preschool class, primary school, and after-school program. Your duties include, among others: personnel responsibility recruiting and staffing work environment and workplace safety pedagogical leadership and school development working with the principal to lead the school's systematic quality work following up and analyzing results and identifying areas for development contributing to equivalent instruction and good learning environments for all students working with the student health team to promote and prevent issues related to student safety, learning, and development developing the after-school program's pedagogical activities and collaboration being a present and clear leader in daily operations. You have an appropriate university education and good knowledge of the school's mission, guidelines, and educational system. Principal education or other leadership training as well as experience in school leadership with personnel responsibility are merits. We would appreciate it if you have experience with younger grades and the after-school program's pedagogical mission, as well as an understanding of the importance of well-functioning transitions and collaboration between preschool class, primary school, and after-school program. As a leader, you are attentive and relationship-focused, but also clear and courageous. You create participation and engagement while being able to make decisions, set direction, and stand by decisions made. You work structurally, prioritize, and drive processes forward. You have a trust-based approach and see staff's competence and responsibility as an important resource. At the same time, you are clear about expectations and have the ability to create structure and work order. You collaborate well and contribute to a positive work climate where we take shared responsibility for the school's mission. You follow developments in educational research and can translate knowledge and analysis into concrete development of instruction and operations.
