Signal Maintenance Engineer

How do we ensure that the right maintenance is performed correctly on our signal systems? As a signal maintenance engineer, you will use your experience to analyze the systems, monitor the contractor's work, and propose improvements. You will move between technical meetings, system monitoring, and field work—with the goal of ensuring reliable railway operations. Work Tasks As a signal maintenance engineer, you will work in the railway maintenance contract Västra Götaland Väst (VGV). The role combines technical monitoring in the field with analysis and systems work. You will lead technical meetings with the contractor and contribute your signal technical expertise to the project team. You will work closely with the project manager and team members, and will also have the opportunity to lead smaller projects and investigations within your area. As a signal maintenance engineer, you will: Analyze and propose measures. You will analyze failures, defects, and disruptions in the railway system, identify needs, and propose actions that contribute to reliable operations. Monitor the contractor's work. You will ensure that work is performed in accordance with applicable regulations and agreements, both in the field and through our systems. You are the contact person for the contractor on signal technical matters and play an important role in ongoing technical dialogue. Develop maintenance plans. Based on your knowledge of the systems and analyses performed, you will propose changes and improvements to maintenance plans to meet both current and future needs. Another important part of the role is participating in national networks and forums for signal technology. There you will have the opportunity to exchange experiences with colleagues, stay updated on developments in the field, and contribute knowledge from your own operations. Qualifications To succeed in this role, you need to be analytical and structured and be able to use your signal technical knowledge to assess needs and propose measures for the systems. You work independently within your area of responsibility and have the ability to plan and follow up on your work. The role involves close collaboration with the project manager, project team, and contractor. Therefore, you need to have good collaboration skills and be able to communicate technical matters clearly. You contribute to constructive dialogue and maintain a professional approach in interactions with both internal and external parties. We are looking for you who have: High school diploma Signal technical education within railways, such as BSG1, BSG2, or equivalent Several years of recent, broad experience in signal technical work within railways Good computer skills and ability to work in different IT systems Good knowledge of Swedish spoken and written Driver's license for passenger vehicle It is an advantage if you have: Worked with maintenance and troubleshooting in signal technology Experience from a supervisory role within an area relevant to the position SISÄ authorization Other Information The work requires high safety awareness and involves spending time in track areas at regular intervals, which places demands on your physical health. Maintenance Engineer Signal

Do you have current experience in signal technology and want to use your expertise to contribute to a safe and reliable railway? As a maintenance engineer signal, you'll have a varied and independent role where you combine field inspections with monitoring, analysis, and planning in the office. Work Tasks As a maintenance engineer signal, you'll become part of the project team and support the project manager with specialist expertise in signal technology. Together, you'll monitor that the maintenance contract is carried out according to agreements, regulations, and other requirements, and contribute to a safe, robust, and reliable railway facility. The role combines office work with work in the railway facility. A large part of the work involves monitoring, analyzing, and documenting in our IT systems, managing documentation, and participating in meetings. You'll also regularly be out in the facility to monitor its condition and verify the contractor's deliverables. This means you need to be comfortable with both the technical and administrative aspects of the work. You have significant personal responsibility for planning and driving your work within the geographic contract area Boden South - Holmsund including branch lines. At the same time, you maintain close dialogue with the project manager, colleagues, and contractors, and participate in recurring meeting forums. You take responsibility for documenting, following up, and completing your tasks, and you act when you discover errors or deviations that need to be addressed. You are self-driven and take initiative to move your work forward. At the same time, you collaborate well with others and communicate clearly and professionally. This is particularly important when working with contractors, where you need to be able to conduct technical dialogues, follow up on deliverables, and be clear about what needs to be corrected.
