Youth Counselor - Temporary Position
Do you want to be part of changing young people's lives?
Ung 24 holds a license from IVO to provide external open care with treatment for children and young people ages 12–25. The organization works with children and young people who have been in inappropriate environments, exhibit norm-breaking and/or criminal behavior (for example, those who have committed individual crimes, experimented with drugs, or displayed threatening behavior). Ung 24 also operates foster care combined with youth treatment/family treatment/contact person services.
About Us:
Ung 24's operations are growing rapidly, and we are therefore seeking a part-time youth counselor for immediate start. The work team has many years of experience working with children and young people in criminal environments. The team includes various roles such as contact person, youth counselor, family therapist, and foster care consultant.
An intervention can take different forms depending on the situation. Some young people remain at home, and we perform the work in their home/local environment; others are placed in temporary or foster care, and the work is carried out in proximity to these placements.
What is common for all is that everyone has contact persons and/or youth counselors for a number of hours each week, and the meetings are individual. We do not work in groups with our young people.
About You:
As a youth counselor at Ung 24, you must be self-driven, flexible, solution-focused, skilled at building alliances, and able to juggle multiple priorities.
You have experience working with children/young people in treatment, support, or social work. You need to be able to work independently. We also see that you have a genuine interest in the child/young person behind the criminal attitude and are willing to be persistent in your role, but also understand when you need to change tactics.
You may drive frequently for work, which means you need to be comfortable and confident with this. You may need to travel to neighboring municipalities.
You are Expected to:
• have the ability to take initiative and create valuable relationships
• have training in one of our treatment methods: rePULSE, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Criminality as a Lifestyle (KSL), or Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT)
• participate in, for example, physical activities such as gym, training, etc.
• conduct urine tests
• support the child/young person in finding a healthy social context outside the intervention
• maintain regular follow-ups with social services and school
• write monthly reports
• write implementation plans
• document all contacts with young people in our Infosoc system
• be able to schedule your working hours in evenings and weekends to fit the young people's schedule
We Offer:
• meaningful work where you make a long-term difference for children and young people
• hourly wage
• continuous supervision
• flexible working hours
Requirements:
Sociology degree, social pedagogy degree, or equivalent qualification
Category B driver's license and a car
Experience with youth work
Fluent spoken and written Swedish
We place great emphasis on personal suitability
We decline all forms of recruitment assistance during the process
Ung 24 is a Stockholm-based company, so the majority of contact with management will be conducted digitally.
