Your opportunity As a senior strategic rock mechanics engineer, you will have a role in preparing Garpenberg for its future as a productive, sustainable and safe mining operation. You will be part of the long-term technical services team which is working on the mid- to long-term planning and Garpenberg operations regarding both spatial extension of mining footprint and ore tonnage production increase in a way that is efficient and ensures long term stability, even at higher mining rates and greater depths. Who you will work with You will be part of a dedicated engineering team within the Long-term planning section within the Garpenberg Mine organization, reporting directly to the section manager for geology and mine planning. This section comprises of mine geology, rock mechanics, long- and mid-term planning and mine infrastructure. You will work together with our geotechnical team of 6 geotechnical engineers and technicians, where you will support more junior engineers and technicians in their development. You will also coordinate the work of external consultants working on long-term studies supporting Garpenberg's strategic goals. Your work will also involve interaction with consultants and other technical experts across Boliden's operations. The Geotechnical network in the Boliden Mines is geographically distributed, but you will have regular opportunities for knowledge sharing and joint problem-solving in cross-functional projects. The geotechnical department at the Boliden Mines Staff is composed of numerous geotechnical engineers, seniors and specialists from various nationalities which instills a unique, welcoming culture that caters for a thriving environment. What you will do Work with our Mine planning engineers within Long-term planning and provide geotechnical input into LOMP designs and sequences as well as to our mid-range planning horizon Conduct geotechnical risk assessment of LOMP and Budget plans including stope dimensions, mining sequence, infrastructure placements and ground support designs Support numerical stress modelling and geotechnical analysis for mine design and planning Work closely together with exploration and mine geology to develop a geotechnical block model and routines to maintain it Support the development of our understanding of rock mechanics, to include for example structural geology, hydrogeology or seismology Provide input to mine planning that enables economic extraction of Garpenberg's resources Participate in research and development initiatives focused on rock mechanics and mining innovation Provide technical guidance and support effective collaboration across the organization What you bring A master's degree in geotechnical and/or mining engineering 10+ years experience with underground hard-rock mining Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to explain complex concepts clearly and proficiency in relevant software Strong computer skills, including experience with CAD software, preferably Deswik and other technical applications Good communication skills and the ability to write technical reports and communicate results to stakeholders Advanced numerical modelling experience using the ITASCA suite Experience with seismic monitoring using the IMS suite and mXrap Experience with deep, seismically active underground sublevel stoping mines Flexibility in adjusting to large changes in a fast-paced environment Fluency in English Fluency in Swedish, or a willingness to learn this quickly Valid B-class driver's license It's an advantage if you have: Post-graduate degree in geotechnical and/or mining engineering Experience with feasibility studies and/or expansion projects Leading geotechnical teams and/or coordination of technical consultants Why work with us At Boliden, we believe in promoting a workplace where care, courage, and responsibility are central to everything we do. Activity Description: Dormsjöskolan is a residential care home (HVB) for boys aged 7-23 years. We are located in Southern Dalarna, just north of Hedemora, and have our own free school. Here, children and young people live in five beautifully situated houses, near a nice bathing lake and exciting forests. There are opportunities for fun activities and quiet moments, as well as supportive adults. Target Group: Boys with neuropsychiatric disabilities as well as social and emotional difficulties. We have capacity for 28 boys and the authorization includes placements supported by SoL, LVU, and LSS. Description of Work Tasks: The foundation of our approach is to create predictability and routines in a structured environment by giving each day, week, and year a clear recurring structure. We assess the children's/young people's abilities and difficulties. The assessment and care plan form the basis for an implementation plan tailored to each child's/young person's needs. The work primarily involves treatment and motivation work for the child/young person. Personal care is also a common task. The goal is to help the children/young people toward an independent life with functioning schooling. Treatment work is individualized based on each child's/young person's needs and circumstances. Social skills training, anger management, low-intensity responses, serial conversations, social stories, and visual support are some of the methods we use. We are looking for someone who is creative and enjoys physical activity, is passionate about working with children and young people with special needs, and is skilled at building trusting and positive relationships. Come and work with us at Dormsjö School! Dormsjö School is a small school with fantastic conditions. Here, approximately twenty students from different parts of the country live and study, primarily residing at our adjacent residential care home. We also have students who commute to and from school daily from the surrounding area. We provide instruction in very small groups within three school forms: primary school, adapted primary school, and adapted upper secondary school. The students at our school often have one or more diagnoses within the autism spectrum, which we meet with individualized instruction that few other schools have the opportunity to offer. The school has a very high staff-to-student ratio and we work in small groups or with individual instruction in a school environment adapted to the students' needs. Dormsjö School is beautifully situated by a lake, just outside Garpenberg. The school is owned by a non-profit foundation that has been located here for over 60 years. We have excellent resources including our own sports hall, forge, music room, auditorium, and gymnasium. However, it is the less visible conditions that truly form the school's strength. Here, every student experiences the security and structure they specifically need. Here, every student is seen and heard by dedicated staff who are there for the students' sake. About the Position You will work as a music teacher in classes with 3–6 students. You will be part of a team together with other teachers and support staff. The team consists of colleagues with varying backgrounds and expertise, but with a common goal – to create the best possible conditions for our students. The position is fundamentally a part-time employment. If you also have qualifications to teach other subjects, there is an opportunity to combine the position, for example as a music teacher and class teacher, which could result in a full-time position.
