Our research is conducted at a high international standard and is carried out in cooperation with researchers from around the world. In the field of power quality, the subject enjoys a strong international reputation thanks to its world-leading research. Subject description Electric Power Engineering covers studies of sustainable systems for production and transportation of electrical energy, and the interaction between power grid, electricity production, and electricity consumption. Project description The project aims to develop models that describe how HVDC installations affect, and are affected by, power quality in electrical networks up to 150 kHz. Measurements will be used to further develop existing models and to distinguish between primary and secondary emissions as well as nonlinear interactions. The results will provide the basis for a generalized model of emission and immunity related to HVDC installations. The study will also investigate network resonances, interactions between multiple HVDC installations, and the effects on transformers and other grid-connected equipment. The project is carried out in collaboration between Luleå University of Technology (LTU) and Hitachi Energy. Duties A PhD position involves both theoretical and practical work.
