Priest in Upper Älvdal Parish
Upper Älvdal Parish comprises the northeastern part of Torsby Municipality. Our church buildings are located in Höljes, Bograngen, Långav, Nyskoga and Stöllet. Three of the churches are situated along the Klarälven river, which winds through the entire parish. During the summer months, the river offers a rich recreational life. Fishing, canoeing and occasionally chilly swimming are popular activities. Many also use the river for adventurous log-driving expeditions. For those who do not swim in the river or lake, there is a swimming facility in Sysslebäck, though fishing there is considerably less abundant. The other two churches are located in the mythical Finnskogen. A popular recreational destination with hiking trails between the Finnish homesteads. The forests have rich wildlife and hunting is a major recreational activity for many parish residents. Moose hunting brings people back to their homeland and enriches life with foreign guests. During winter, snow tends to be deep at the high-altitude ski facilities. Långberget, where cross-country skiing is the specialty, and Branäs, where alpine skiing is the main attraction. The population of Torsby Municipality doubles when the facilities are fully booked, often with guests from far away. Large distances are something the population is accustomed to, and a car is almost essential, but not always unwelcome. Höljes is well known for its Rallycross competitions and folkrace is a major sport for many families in the parish. Our activities include the entire parish area. Services are held not only in our churches, but also at heritage farms and mountain pastures. River banks and some lakes are also visited during summer. Spring and winter concerts with our choirs move between churches and summer music programs are spread out so that many can participate without long car journeys. Children's activities are concentrated at the schools, which are located in Stöllet and Sysslebäck. Your role: As an Associate Priest, your job includes traditional pastoral duties such as services, church ceremonies, confirmation and children's activities. It is a requirement that you are ordained in the Church of Sweden and have a category B driving license with access to your own car. To succeed in this role, we see that you are confident in your self-image, your mission and your faith/worldview. You understand, care for and appreciate smaller communities. We are looking for someone who creates and maintains good relationships, who can organize and set boundaries both for yourself and in the activities. You have a strong ability to meet people of different ages and in different contexts. You enjoy working both independently and in collaboration with others. Submit your application as soon as possible. We use continuous selection and interviews, so do not wait until the last application deadline. We look forward to receiving your application!
