Job Description As a probation officer, you are responsible for conditionally released clients under supervision as well as clients sentenced to protective supervision. The probation service also handles intensive supervision with electronic monitoring, so-called ankle monitors, and community service. Work within probation consists largely of investigation work, conducting risk and needs assessments, and developing plans for the execution of sentences. Some probation officers also lead treatment programs. As a probation officer, you actively participate in influence work directed toward clients, including through structured conversations using the KRIMSRICS method, which is a working approach that combines structured risk assessments with a conversation method based on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).
