The Pediatric Care department in Norrbotten is a county clinic and is part of the Division of Medicine and Emergency Care. Here, the specialties of pediatrics and adolescent medicine and pediatric and adolescent rehabilitation work closely together, and extensive collaboration is conducted with child and adolescent psychiatry as well as with other care partners within and outside Region Norrbotten. Extensive collaboration also takes place with all municipalities in Norrbotten. The largest pediatric facilities are located at Gällivare and Sunderby hospitals, where the county's inpatient care is also provided. Pediatric outpatient clinics are located in Gällivare, Sunderbyn, Piteå, Kalix, and Kiruna, and all locations except Kiruna also have pediatric and adolescent rehabilitation services. The Gällivare operation has just over 50 employees with a wide range of expertise. The operation is mainly located in Gällivare, with a smaller clinic in Kiruna. The catchment area is small in terms of population but large in terms of area. Given the large distances, a multifaceted operation is conducted where virtually all patient categories are cared for. On the physician side, we currently have three senior physicians and one specialist physician in Gällivare. Work Tasks As a social secretary in children and youth you work primarily with the Social Services Act and the Care of Young Persons (Special Provisions) Act. You work with families based on incoming reports or applications from guardians or young people. The work tasks include monitoring children and young people in open interventions that the open care service carries out but also monitoring of placements in foster homes and treatment homes. We strive to provide families with support at an early stage and to the extent possible we work with home-based solutions. As a social worker you should have good knowledge of current legislation and have a humanistic view of people.
