About the Role Do you want to take responsibility in one of Sweden's most exciting and comprehensive construction projects in the building of a new steel mill? As Block Chief, you have overall responsibility for planning, leading, and executing the project's components with a focus on quality, time, and budget. You are responsible for project planning, resource procurement, and production together with a team of supervisors, our own skilled workers, and subcontractors. The role requires clear leadership, presence in production, and a responsible and solution-oriented approach. You ensure structure, progress, and a good work environment while maintaining professional dialogue with the client and other involved parties. In certain projects, the role may also include participation in bid preparation, where your experience contributes to realistic and feasible project plans. You have worked as a site manager for at least 1–3 years and have thereby built up a strong understanding of production, leadership, and project management in larger project environments. About Civil West The Civil West division operates in construction in Gothenburg, Northern Halland, Älvsborg, and Bohuslän. Our work covers the entire chain, from design and construction to production in earthwork and infrastructure projects. We have approximately 250 employees divided into four production areas and a specialist group. The Bid Engineer Role We're looking for a committed bid engineer specializing in concrete who wants to contribute to the infrastructure of the future. In this role, you're responsible for cost calculations on our projects, from tender documentation to finished bid. You work closely with production and other specialists to develop innovative and cost-effective solutions. The work includes quantity takeoffs, pricing and scheduling, bid requests, and selection of technical solutions and methods leading to a completed estimate. You'll also conduct risk and opportunity analyses from technical, economic, environmental, occupational health and safety, and legal perspectives. Depending on project size and complexity, you'll manage one or several bids simultaneously. Once a project is awarded, you participate in startup, monitoring, and managing any changes. Great emphasis is placed on knowledge and experience sharing, as well as challenging traditional working methods. A large portion of our projects are carried out in close collaboration with the customer, making you an important part of the team working on bid preparation, budget calculations, and planning in early stages. Sometimes you'll also provide support during the production phase. Your Profile We're looking for someone with construction technical education or equivalent experience. You have several years of experience with concrete work and have worked in roles involving calculations, project economics, or similar tasks, possibly as a project engineer or contract engineer. You are analytical, thorough, and accustomed to working toward clear deadlines. Since you'll frequently participate in meetings and collaborate with both customers and colleagues, you need strong communication and relationship-building skills. You express yourself well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing, and hold a category B driving license. It's a plus if you have experience with both earthwork and concrete projects and if you've worked with BIM software.
