Environmental Protection Inspector
In the Environmental Unit, we are 12 employees with excellent facilities and surroundings in the Viborg area of Visby. As a colleague with us, you also have the opportunity to work flexibly. Within the unit there is broad knowledge of environmental and health protection issues and we have a culture where we help each other. The Environmental Unit is part of the Building Permits and Environment Department. The department includes, among others, environmental protection inspectors, food inspectors, and building permit processors. The department has approximately 80 employees. Environmental oversight is a control to ensure that operations comply with environmental legislation rules, as well as dialogue to contribute to improvements. In the Environmental Unit, oversight is conducted at, among other things, industries, agriculture, wastewater facilities, waste facilities, and contaminated areas. We also handle referrals and inquiries concerning environmentally hazardous activities. We work independently with our own cases and have extensive collaboration between colleagues. Your work tasks We are looking for you to work with oversight in the waste area. This involves oversight of operations that handle waste, excavation materials and landfills, as well as cases concerning littering and unauthorized burning. You will also support colleagues with knowledge within the waste area, provide statements in building permit cases and detailed plans, and have contact with the rescue service regarding the handling of spills in accidents. There are close connections between contaminated areas and the waste area, for example regarding the handling of excavation materials and landfills. In the unit there are colleagues with good expertise in contaminated areas, with whom you will have close collaboration. Who are you? You need to have higher education in environmental and health protection, environmental science, or equivalent education with a connection to the Environmental Code. A B-class driver's license is a requirement. Experience working with environmental issues in public authorities or in business/industry is meritorious. Experience with oversight according to the Environmental Code or work within the waste area is particularly meritorious. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities.
