About the Operation Future surgical care is characterized by an increased focus on day surgery activities. The Day Surgery Unit at Falun Hospital is part of the Surgery, Anesthesia, and Intensive Care Clinic (OpAnIva). The clinic has approximately 350 employees, of whom about 50 work within day surgery operations. The department has five operating rooms and operates Monday through Friday. Hours are 07:00-19:00 Monday through Thursday and 07:00-16:00 on Fridays. The Surgery Clinic, Women's Clinic, and Orthopedic Clinic perform day surgery operations for their day surgery patients at the day surgery unit. Job Responsibilities As a surgical nursing assistant with us, you work in a cohesive team together with surgical nurses, anesthesia nurses, and anesthesiologists from the OpAnIva clinic, as well as physicians from the region's operating units. Work as a surgical nursing assistant involves serving in the operating room where you are responsible for, among other things, preparing equipment and the operating table before the patient's surgery. Together with the surgical nurse, you ensure that all necessary preparations for the current operation are completed. During surgery, you assist the surgical nurse and operating physician by providing materials, prosthetics, instruments, implants, and other equipment needed. You also handle X-ray equipment and other medical technical devices. Together with other team members, you share responsibility for patient safety and care before, during, and after surgery. In addition to work in the operating room, the position includes tasks related to the department's cleaning and sterilization of instruments and materials. As a surgical nursing assistant, you primarily work daytime hours Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. The position includes approximately one evening shift per week at our postoperative unit (UVA). The day surgery department is closed on weekends and public holidays, which means you have time off then. After surgery, the patient is cared for in the recovery unit. Tasks there include monitoring and documenting the patient's vital parameters, postoperative information and planning, and preparations for discharge. We work in a team-based approach, and all employees collaborate across the entire department and between our different operational areas: preoperative operations (pre-op), surgery, and postoperative care (UVA). The position is a temporary assignment running from August 31, 2026, to August 29, 2027. Qualifications We're looking for someone who is trained as a nursing assistant and has completed the Care and Health Program or the Vocational Package in Care and Health from adult education Meritorious experience includes previous experience from operating units or work in an operating department We'd be happy if you could start with us as soon as possible.
