Visby Hospital has a broad healthcare mission and provides Gotland with acute and planned specialist care. The island location requires the resources of a large hospital while simultaneously offering the proximity and community feel of a smaller one. The ENT department is responsible for ear, nose, and throat care for Gotland's approximately 60,000 residents and handles around 7,000 visits per year. At the Department of Diagnostics and Intervention, we conduct research and teach within nine different subject areas in close collaboration with the four Norrland regions. We have internationally recognized research environments where the breadth of subject areas enables innovation and collaboration across boundaries. Most of our researchers and teachers work clinically, and our facilities are located at the regional hospitals in Östersund, Sunderbyn, Sundsvall, and Umeå - in the heart of the activity.
