About the Job
Transportstyrelsen has, according to the planning and building ordinance, authorization to prescribe technical performance requirements for roads, streets, subways, trams, and railways as well as structures related to these. This means we can establish national requirements for technical properties that are essential regarding:
- load-bearing capacity, stability, and durability,
- safety in case of fire,
- protection concerning hygiene, health, and the environment,
- safety in use,
- protection against noise.

You Will
- develop and manage regulations within your area of expertise
- lead and participate in regulatory work, government assignments, exception reviews, internal investigations, and respond to consultations
- participate in standardization work nationally and possibly internationally
- provide expert support externally and internally
- if applicable, initiate research and development related to technical performance requirements.
Since you may participate in national and international working groups, the position involves periodic travel.
You Must Have
- a civil engineering or master's degree in building technology or geotechnical engineering, or other education, expertise, and experience that we assess as equivalent
- several years of relevant and current work experience in dimensioning of foundations or buildings where Eurocodes have been applied, or alternatively reviewed documentation of such dimensioning
- good investigation experience
- very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish
- good ability to understand and express yourself in speech and writing in English.
It is Meritorious if You Also Have
- experience from standardization work nationally or internationally
- experience with risk analyses or probabilistic calculations
- experience working on developing regulations in areas relevant to the position
- experience from road or railway construction
- research training, such as a doctoral degree.

The employment is permanent. We prefer placement in Borlänge, but placement can be discussed at our other locations: Norrköping, Örebro, Stockholm, Arjeplog, Visby, Kristianstad, Gothenburg, Härnösand, Mariestad, or Umeå. We normally apply a trial employment period.
As an employee with us, you have the opportunity to work remotely up to three days per week. The organization's needs and the nature of the work tasks determine if and to what extent this is possible.
Employment with us may involve placement in a security classification. A security clearance with record check according to the security protection act (2018:585) may therefore be conducted. For some of our work tasks in security classification, Swedish citizenship is required.
