These characteristics significantly affect momentum and heat fluxes across the air–sea–ice interface and other processes. Despite this importance, our understanding of turbulent flows at the interface in the MIZ remains fragmented and poorly represented in current weather and climate models. The postdoctoral project will focus on: implementing new turbulent parameterizations for the marginal ice zone (MIZ) in Earth system models (regional or global), and assessing the impact of MIZ processes on polar extreme cyclones and their broader consequences for polar climate. Requirements PhD in atmospheric or ocean science, or a related field, or a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a PhD in the above subject.
