Both have extensive care needs and receive personal assistance due to autism, ADHD, developmental disability, OCD, and gastrostomy, among other conditions. This means they require substantial hands-on help and support from their assistants so that structure and routines can create the calmest daily life possible. The work requires that you have the ability and interest in learning to work methodically while also being open to sudden changes. Since they cannot communicate verbally, AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) is used in daily communication—pictures, gestures, and signs. Their interests include animals, being outdoors, "playing," swimming, roughhousing, and music. We are looking for someone with lots of energy who is genuinely interested in working with service users within the LSS framework. It is an advantage if you have previous experience working within LSS, or alternatively experience working with people with disabilities, home care, nursing homes with extensive care needs, etc. Most importantly, you must be motivated and interested in learning within this field. You will primarily work as part of a team, though individual work also occurs.
