We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher in rhetoric with a focus on textbook studies from a cross-cultural perspective. The position is aimed at you who have a background in rhetoric or another relevant discipline that includes knowledge of rhetoric in theory and practice, such as language studies, media and communication studies, didactics, and/or pedagogy. Research Environment The rhetoric research environment at SOL emphasizes the reception history and potential of classical rhetoric. This includes research projects that critically and constructively examine communicative challenges and opportunities in contemporary society. A central research focus is rhetoric's educational tradition, argumentation in theory and practice, in situ rhetoric, textbook studies, and democratic education. Research is conducted using, for example, qualitative and exploratory methods such as textual analysis and action research. Tasks and Responsibilities You apply for the position with a proposal for a research project that clearly contributes to illuminating rhetoric's place in modern teaching materials from a cross-cultural perspective. The project may advantageously focus on handbooks in practical rhetoric in different cultural contexts or on school textbooks in different cultural contexts. Your research project may also relate to other arenas for rhetoric education, such as within law, various forms of activities outside the school environment, and informal learning situations outside established educational institutions. We welcome proposals where selected classical rhetorical concepts (e.g., techne, dunamis, ethopoeia, controversia) have central significance, as well as proposals that involve a research design containing so-called mixed methods. You will work on your proposed project in collaboration with colleagues in rhetoric and related disciplines. You will be assigned a mentor and also offered support for your continued academic career. In addition to your own research project, you will work on organizing seminars and building various networks. You will, together with your colleagues in rhetoric and related disciplines, establish contacts and build national and international scientific collaborations. You are expected to participate actively in the research environment through participation in seminars and other research-related activities. The tasks require regular presence at the workplace. As part of the employment, you are expected to write at least two peer-reviewed scientific articles or one peer-reviewed scientific monograph. The position is intended as an initial step in your career and as an opportunity for you to further deepen and broaden your research competence. The position also includes some pedagogical qualification. Teaching, supervision, and other teaching-related tasks may occur within the scope of employment, but no more than one-fifth of working time. Qualifications The assessment will primarily be based on your scientific merits and potential as a researcher. Particular weight will be given to scientific expertise within the subject area. Requirements for the position are: Doctoral degree or equivalent foreign degree in rhetoric or another related discipline that includes knowledge of rhetoric in theory and practice, such as language studies, media and communication studies, didactics, and/or pedagogy. The ward currently has 17 patient beds on weekdays and 12 beds on weekends. Some of the most common oncological endocrinological diagnoses are neuroendocrine tumors (NET), neuroendocrine carcinoma (NEC), and thyroid cancer. These are treated with targeted radiation therapy and/or chemotherapy/immunotherapy. The most common oncological diagnosis with us is lymphoma, where our specialty is CAR-T treatment – a treatment where the patient's own T-cells are genetically modified to attack cancer. With us, you will work with medical technology including central and peripheral infusions, chemotherapy, and immunotherapies.
