Midwife at Women's Clinic - Choose Your Rotation Combination

As a midwife at the Women's Clinic in Västerås, you'll become part of a broad and developmental operation where you follow women and families through different stages of the care pathway – from pregnancy and childbirth to postpartum care and gynecological services. We work together to provide safe, secure, and person-centered care, while you have the opportunity to develop alongside engaged colleagues. About the Position The role involves rotation between two of the Women's Clinic's operations. In your application, you can rank which of the following rotation arrangements you prefer: Gynecology Ward 85 and Postpartum Unit (BB) Gynecology Ward 85 and Labor and Delivery Postpartum Unit (BB) and Labor and Delivery Read more about the different operations below. Gynecology Ward 85 At Gynecology Ward 85, women of all ages receive care. Here you'll meet patients with acute gynecological conditions, pre- and post-operative patients, patients receiving abortion care and gynecological cancer treatment, as well as pregnant women with pregnancy complications. The ward is also connected to a day care facility for gynecological cancer treatment. As a midwife, you're responsible for individualized care throughout the entire care process. Your duties include medication management, care procedures, and documentation. You work both independently and in close collaboration with nursing assistants, physicians, and other professionals in varied work where your expertise makes a difference every day. Postpartum Unit (BB) At the Postpartum Unit, you meet families during the first period after childbirth. Here, women receive care following both normal and more complicated pregnancies and deliveries, as well as women whose infants are cared for in the neonatal ward. We're also responsible for blood tests, screening examinations, and breastfeeding support according to WHO guidelines, with the goal of giving every family a secure start together. As a midwife, you have a team leadership role and are responsible for the medical care of the woman and newborn. You work with nursing assistants to create safety and continuity during the care period. The role also includes the opportunity to work at the follow-up clinic, breastfeeding clinic, and BB at Home, where you follow up with and support families in their home environment. Labor and Delivery At the Labor and Delivery unit in Västerås, approximately 2,500 babies are born each year. Here you'll meet women in active labor and patients who seek acute care during pregnancy due to various pregnancy complications. Care is planned together with the woman based on her needs and wishes, with a focus on safety, participation, and high patient safety. As a midwife, you work in paired care with a nursing assistant and share responsibility for the woman and her family through labor. The work is varied and developmental and includes both normal and more complex deliveries. You'll use your full midwifery skills and become part of an operation that continuously works to develop and offer safe and secure care. We have a unit that receives patients with stroke, TIA or suspected stroke, and a unit that evaluates and cares for patients with various neurological diseases such as epilepsy, brain tumors, Parkinson's disease, and severe sleep disorders. At the highest medical level, we evaluate, care for, and treat patients with neurological conditions at many stages! Our operation is constantly developing. The most advanced stroke treatment, thrombectomy, is very common with us and we also work with thrombolysis treatment and aftercare. From our stroke observation unit, our alert team consisting of a nurse, nursing assistant, and physician quickly meets the patient in acute care or directly in radiology. On the ward, we work in teams, including student teams, and our stroke unit has a total of 18 care beds. On our second unit, we evaluate patients with difficult-to-treat epilepsy in preparation for possible surgery as well as severe movement disorders in preparation for pump treatment and surgery. Patients come from all over Sweden for planned evaluations at our specially equipped unit, a unit that also has space for acute care beds. In total, we have 14 care beds here. 2 position(s). In your role as investigator/project manager, a large part of your assignment will be linked to Region Uppsala's agreements with private healthcare providers and other care actors. The work includes ongoing monitoring of quality, accessibility, production, and contract compliance, as well as analysis of results, development needs, and any need for contract modifications. The assignment is conducted in collaboration with several parts of Region Uppsala and may include work carried out both within and outside the Healthcare Assignment Unit.
