As a regional hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we serve healthcare to two million people in central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is celebrated as a hero. With us, you'll experience both challenging times and amazing moments, in a strong community with colleagues. See glimpses of our reality in our photo exhibition; akademiskafotoutstallning.se. Our operations have a broad mandate where it is meaningful, exciting, and developmental to work. There are good opportunities to participate in development work and research; in our work, we translate new knowledge into care practice. Our Department At the acute geriatric care ward 30A, the focus is on the older, frail person. We provide acute medical care with a rehabilitative approach for elderly patients with complex medical conditions and care needs. As an experienced nurse, you will use all your combined competence and experience around the patient. Geriatric care is conducted according to a clear structure specially adapted for the elderly patient and their needs. In geriatric care, teamwork is central – both the collaboration of the multiprofessional team and the patient's participation are important parts of care. As a nurse at 30A, you constantly work with others and thereby gain broad knowledge in various areas and a holistic view of the patient with different types of needs. To the acute geriatric care ward, approximately half of the patients come via the emergency department, and the rest come through direct admission (from ambulance or primary care team) or by referral from other departments within the hospital. Your Mission Within geriatrics, we work with renewed methods such as daily management, medical reconciliation, and CGA (Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment). The goal of these approaches is to increase the quality of care by involving the patient in their care and improving the work environment by ensuring the right person does the right things. This is ongoing work that develops and is continuously evaluated, and here you have the chance to contribute with your knowledge and experience. When you as a newly graduated nurse feel ready, there are several opportunities for you to specialize in one of the responsibility areas, such as nutrition, elimination, which we have at the ward. Together, we will make a plan for development and possible participation in the important work of improving the ward, patient care, work environment, etc. We also have an internal training program built over 2 years and run by experienced staff within geriatrics, the Geriatric Academy. You can apply to the Geriatric Academy after working with us for 1 year; the program starts every other year and has 12 participants (both nursing assistants and nurses) from the geriatrics section. We Offer All new employees receive individualized adapted orientation for at least 5 weeks. We use a clear orientation program with an orientation booklet, and during orientation and later during your employment, time will be set aside for mandatory e-Learning training in the PingPong system such as fire, threats and violence, safety, etc. It is important to us that you as a newly graduated nurse receive support and help during your first time with us so that you feel secure. That you receive the knowledge and experience you need to gradually grow and become more independent in your new role. Therefore, all new employees receive frequent follow-ups at intervals of 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months, as well as when needed. The assistant ward managers have an operational role at the ward and check in with you during regular working days, both during day shifts and before evening shifts. We have also hired an operational nurse who can provide extra support to you as a new employee. Who Are You? You are a newly graduated nurse. You have the ability to see and work with people's resources and place emphasis on patients' health understanding, participation, and co-responsibility. You want to work in a team and wish to develop in a multiprofessional work group. You are solution-oriented in what you do and choose to work in stimulating, joyful, and developmental workplaces with the goal of providing the best care for your patients. Step Forward, Welcome to Us! We Offer We offer you a permanent position. During the first year, you are offered to work only 2-shifts. Want to Know More? Come Meet Us Through an Interview or Internship. Application Deadline is 5/10/2026. Interviews and placement will take place continuously, so don't delay sending in your application. With us you get benefits that make a difference, read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/). Want to Know More?
