Our unit On the acute geriatric care unit 30A, the focus is on the elderly, frail person. We provide medical acute care with a rehabilitative approach, for older patients with complex medical conditions and care needs. As an experienced nurse, you will use all your accumulated expertise and experience around the patient. Geriatric care is conducted within a clear structure specially adapted for the elderly patient and their needs. Within geriatric care, teamwork is central – both the multidisciplinary team's collaboration and the patient's participation are important parts of care. As a nurse on 30A, you constantly collaborate with others and thereby gain broad knowledge across different areas and a perspective of the patient as a whole with various types of needs. Approximately half of the patients admitted to the acute geriatric care unit come via the emergency department, while others come via our direct intake (from ambulance or the nearby care team) or by referral from other departments within the hospital. Your assignment Within geriatrics, we work with renewed methods such as daily management, medical reconciliation, and CGA (Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment). The goal of these methods is to increase the quality of care by involving the patient in their own care and improving the work environment by ensuring the right person does the right things. This is ongoing work that develops and is continuously evaluated, and here you have the chance to contribute with your knowledge and experience. With us, new areas of responsibility have been developed based on the patient group's needs. As an experienced nurse, you have the opportunity to pursue a specialist nurse education in elderly care and complete it during work hours. We also have an internal training program structured over 2 years and run by experienced geriatric staff, the Geriatric Academy. You can apply to the Geriatric Academy after working with us for 1 year; the program starts every other year and has 12 participants (both nursing assistants and nurses) from the geriatric section. Your qualifications You are an experienced nurse, preferably with experience in inpatient care. It is an advantage to have broad knowledge and skills in the field of care and person-centered care. Your competence As a person, you are flexible in your work, with the ability to switch between an outcome focus and a task focus to provide the best and safest care for patients. You have the ability to see and work with people's resources and emphasize patients' health understanding, participation, and shared responsibility. You have the ability to collaborate in a team and wish to develop in a multidisciplinary work group. You are solution-oriented in what you do and choose to work in stimulating, joyful, and developmental workplaces with the goal of providing the best care for your patients. All new employees receive an individually adapted introduction depending on previous experience.
