The Investigation Section in the Västerbotten police district is organized into serious crimes, investigation, particularly vulnerable crime victims, and financial crime. The Investigation Section also has station commanders and on-call investigation leaders. The Investigation Section is responsible for qualified investigative work and the handling of certain covert enforcement measures. We are now seeking a Financial Investigator for Investigation Team 1, Serious Crimes with a focus on Financial Crime, based in Umeå. The team currently consists of eight investigators, two financial investigators, an investigation leader, and a team chief. Duties As a Financial Investigator, you work both independently and in close collaboration with other professional roles in investigations concerning serious and organized crime with a particular focus on financial crime. Your task is to identify evidence through financial analysis and mapping, clarify connections between individuals and networks, investigate economic motives, and secure assets in preparation for potential forfeiture or damages. You will participate in investigations involving, for example, systematic fraud, extensive benefit fraud, money laundering, and matters concerning independent forfeiture. The work is conducted primarily as part of an investigation team, where you are responsible for providing specialist expertise within the financial field. You will also have independent responsibility for planning, conducting, and reporting your part of the investigation. The role also includes contributing to internal competency development in the area of financial investigation and financial crime. You are expected to actively share your knowledge with colleagues within the organization. The work includes, among other tasks, the following: Obtaining, reviewing, and analyzing financial information, such as bank statements and tax records Structuring and visualizing financial information in order to clarify criminal schemes, methods, and sequences of events Preparing calculations to assess economic gain resulting from crime Tracing and analyzing cryptocurrency assets Handling national and international information requests and cooperation with other authorities Reviewing the financial circumstances of individuals and businesses Presenting and presenting analyses to investigators, prosecutors, and other decision-makers, and providing recommendations for further action Participation in interviews and other investigative measures, including, if necessary, testifying based on your own analysis work The role places high demands on analytical ability, integrity, and the ability to work in a structured and results-oriented manner in complex cases.
