The Department of Molecular Biology is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to investigate how the obligate intracellular bacterial pathogen Chlamydia trachomatis establishes and maintains its intracellular niche and impacts host cell biology. Position Responsibilities The postdoctoral fellow will conduct independent research in gender studies with an educational science focus on the theme: Youth, Violence, and Gender in Schools. Schools play a central role in efforts to promote safety, democratic values, and gender equality. Issues of violence in young people's close relationships, honor-related violence, youth perpetration of violence, and recruitment into criminal environments underscore schools' responsibility as learning environments and social arenas. Against the backdrop of increasing polarization and the report Schools Against Crime (SOU 2024:14), we aim to strengthen research on violence, safety, and gender in school environments. Image and Functional Medicine (BFM) Västerbotten operates extensive activities at Norrland University Hospital in Umeå, Skellefteå Hospital, and Lycksele Hospital, as well as at health centers in southern Lapland. BFM Västerbotten is responsible for diagnostic radiological imaging examinations including nuclear medicine, mammography, and advanced peripheral and neuroradiological intervention. Our equipment includes seven MR cameras, nine computed tomography systems, two PET/CT systems, and one cyclotron. The clinic performs approximately 190,000 examinations per year. An incomplete mechanistic understanding of carbon storage in wood limits our ability to predict trees' capacity to assimilate CO₂ and optimize production of sustainable wood-based materials and fuels. This project will address this challenge by investigating metabolic fluxes in aspen using innovative metabolomics and isotope techniques. Your Background Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in plant molecular biology, plant biochemistry, or plant physiology, and have a genuine interest in conducting experimental plant research. Laboratory skills in molecular biology are essential, and previous experience with metabolomics and plant primary metabolism is highly desirable. Fluent English in speech and writing is required.
