The Department of Archaeology and Ancient Cultures is one of Sweden's largest archaeological environments. It consists of six divisions: archaeology, the archaeological research laboratory, the numismatic research group, the osteoarchaeological research laboratory, ancient cultures and society, and the center for paleogenetics. The department provides education at undergraduate and advanced levels, and conducts research in several different areas. The department has approximately 75 employees, 200 full-time students, and an annual turnover of approximately 106 million kr, including many externally funded research projects. We now have an opportunity for you to work with us in our administrative group as a Human Resources Specialist. We are a friendly and service-oriented group with a good atmosphere. You will work closely with the administrative director, the prefect, department heads, researchers, doctoral students, and other colleagues. Responsibilities As a Human Resources Specialist, you work independently with a broad range of HR-related tasks with close connection to the university's mission in education and research. Your main areas of work: Support and consultation Provide qualified support to managers and employees on personnel and salary-related matters. Serve as contact person towards the central HR department. Personnel administration Handle matters in the personnel system such as employment, leave, sick leave, hourly wages, fees, travel expenses, reimbursements, wellness benefits, and salary basis. Follow up time-limited employment and monitor employment tenure. Update personnel catalog and register. Provide support to international employees upon their arrival in Sweden, including contact with the Migration Board, the Social Insurance Agency, and the Tax Agency. Salary and systems work Registration and follow-up in the personnel system, Primula. Quality assure monthly salary runs in collaboration with the central payroll function. Recruitment and processes Participate in recruitment processes. Plan and coordinate the introduction of new employees and manage departures. Development and governance Implement and communicate guidelines and regulations. Develop and update procedures and information materials. Web editor for research pages Other administrative tasks may occur. Qualifications We are looking for someone with: Education as an HR specialist, or other education/experience that the employer deems equivalent. Several years of experience with independent personnel and payroll administration work, preferably with experience in advising managers. Good experience with HR systems and digital working methods. Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing. It is a merit if you have: Experience with similar tasks, particularly from a university, college, or other public sector activity. Knowledge of state regulations and employment law processes.
