Analytical chemistry, isotope geochemistry, and environmental forensics are important parts of the subject's research areas. Subject Description Applied geochemistry encompasses studies of the occurrence and mobility of elements in rock, soil, and water, with a focus on methods to prevent or reduce environmental effects from metal extraction and construction. Job Responsibilities The position of Professor and Subject Representative is a leadership role with overall responsibility for leading and developing the subject in terms of research, doctoral education, and undergraduate and advanced level education. For a professor, this also includes following the subject's international development, supervising doctoral students, and assisting in teaching. Additionally, the assignment includes further developing collaboration within the department and with other subjects at the university, as well as strengthening connections to relevant national and international research environments and industry. The Subject Representative has particular responsibility for attracting external funding and ensuring financing for both their own research and for promoting the academic environment in the subject as a whole. An important task for the Subject Representative is to build a strong research subject where doctoral students, colleagues, and students grow and develop. Qualifications To be eligible for employment as a professor, one must demonstrate both scientific and pedagogical skill. Equal care shall be given to assessing pedagogical as well as scientific skill. Duties The position as Professor/Head of Subject is a leadership role with overall responsibility for leading and developing the subject including research, postgraduate education as well as education at undergraduate and graduate level. For a professor, it also includes following the international development of the subject, supervising doctoral students and assisting with teaching. In addition, the assignment is to further develop collaboration within the department and with other subjects at the university, and to strengthen the link with relevant national and international research environments. The Head of Subject has a particular responsibility for attracting external funding and securing funding for his/her own research as well as for promoting the academic environment at large. An important task for the Head of Subject is to build a strong research subject where doctoral students, staff and students grow and develop. The position of Professor as well as Head of Subject is a permanent position. Qualifications Qualified for an employment as a professor is someone who has demonstrated both research expertise and teaching expertise. As much attention must be given to the assessment of teaching expertise as to the assessment of research expertise. Project Description For this doctoral position in Mining and Rock Engineering, the research will focus on developing engineered underground hydrogen storage in lined rock caverns (LRC) constructed in hard crystalline rock. The research includes: - developing coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical numerical models to simulate injection, storage, and extraction of hydrogen; - evaluating how operational loads affect the integrity of steel liners, concrete, and surrounding rock; - developing reference designs for lined rock caverns with various storage capacities and scaling methods; - assessing site-specific performance under different geological conditions and providing recommendations for the design of future demonstration projects. The project is carried out in close collaboration between Luleå University of Technology, the Geological Survey of Sweden (SGU), and several Swedish industrial partners. The hired doctoral candidate will work closely with researchers specializing in rock mechanics, underground construction, geophysics, and geology, and will have regular contact with industrial stakeholders. Duties As a doctoral candidate you will: - conduct independent research through numerical modeling, laboratory experiments, and field investigations; - participate in site investigations and data collection in northern Sweden; - develop methods for evaluating suitable storage sites and optimizing the design of lined rock caverns; - publish research results in leading international scientific journals; - present research at national and international conferences; - complete the research education courses required for a doctoral degree. JOB DUTIES As a temporary employee at Luleå Swimming Pool, your work tasks will be to: • Place the guest in focus and ensure that all visitors receive a welcoming and professional reception. You answer questions, handle cash transactions, and help create a positive atmosphere at the facility. • Monitor the pools to ensure visitor safety and intervene when necessary. This also involves handling emergency situations and being able to act quickly and correctly in water. • Ensure that the pool facility surfaces are clean, fresh, and safe.
