Additionally, there are outpatient clinics at both the University Hospital in Linköping and Vrinnevisjukhuset in Norrköping with extensive operations in all neurological diagnostic areas, as well as a neuromuscular laboratory/unit with a national mandate for highly specialized care. Our Offer Forward for Life. Region Östergötland has high ambitions and a responsible mission. It's about health and care, about our region's development, and about those who live and work here. We want to continue being at the forefront, with care, research, and education. This means daring to think differently – and having the best employees. Therefore, we offer unique opportunities for continued learning and invest in modern environments with efficient systems and tools. Many of us meet patients and loved ones, while others create the conditions for vital interventions. Here we work with fantastic people toward the same goal – to make a real difference, and forward for life. The Department of Neurology values development, education, and innovation. We know that nursing work can sometimes be challenging, which is why we work extensively to support our nurses, both in daily work and long-term. If you have plans to conduct nursing research, now or in the future, we are open to discussions about how a clinical position can be combined with research at the clinic. We highly value the students who undertake their clinical placements (VFU) at the clinic and strive for all nurses to have supervisor training. Head supervisors work very actively on the ward, and we have won the VFU prize. You can read here about our career ladder for nurses and also about your benefits with us. Job Description On unit B181, you work with both the somatic and psychological aspects of your patients' diagnoses, as diseases of the brain and nervous system affect both areas. You work with acute care, rehabilitation, and palliative care. Since patients have significant nursing care needs, you have the opportunity to become an expert in nursing care, your profession's specialist area. You train your clinical eye as our patients' conditions can deteriorate quickly, and you gain valuable medical experience and knowledge. We work closely together in teams with physicians, nursing assistants, and paramedics, and hold team rounds three times per week where all professions are represented. The neurology on-call service is stationed at the university hospital also during nighttime, which provides a short response time when needed and offers great reassurance as a nurse. You always have a nurse colleague to collaborate with, and the ward has relatively high staffing of nursing assistants relative to patients' care needs. Introduction occurs during daytime, tailored to your individual needs. We believe that an individually adapted start leads to a confident employee. We have developed our orientation program which includes, among other things, a ProAct course and a mentorship program during the first year of employment. We also offer a Clinical Foundation Year to all our newly qualified nurses. Work Team There are seven nurse leaders at the clinic. Their tasks include driving specific processes from a nursing care perspective and serving as mentors and knowledge support to less experienced colleagues. This provides the clinic with good conditions for development and support for new employees. The clinic has approximately 150 employees. About You You have a nursing degree. Experience in neurology, acute care, and/or monitoring care is advantageous. You have good Swedish proficiency in both speech and writing. As a person, you take responsibility and adapt easily to changing circumstances. It is important that you can work in a structured manner and prioritize your efforts. You also have good teamwork abilities. Do you want to combine advanced spine surgery with a strategic and academic development role? We are now seeking an experienced senior physician in spine surgery who wants to take a leading role in developing the future of spine care at Linköping University Hospital. The position includes responsibility as a section leader with the opportunity to develop the operations in the long term. We want to employ you as a knowledge bearer and driving force in advanced spine surgery at Linköping University Hospital. You will have an important role in shaping the future of spine surgery within the Southeast Healthcare Region. With us, you work in a highly specialized university healthcare setting with strong collegiality and excellent opportunities for development. Our Offer Center for Surgery, Orthopedics and Cancer Care (CKOC) provides healthcare, research and education within orthopedics, surgery, urology, oncology, hematology and pulmonary medicine in Östergötland and within the Southeast Healthcare Region. The Orthopedic Clinic at Linköping University Hospital is a large and well-established operation with approximately 150 employees. The clinic includes an inpatient ward with a teaching ward, outpatient clinic and rehabilitation unit, and provides both acute and planned orthopedic care. In addition to general orthopedics, the clinic's specialty areas are spine surgery, tumor surgery, pediatric orthopedics, and upper and lower extremity surgery, with responsibility for treating patients from the entire Southeast Healthcare Region. We encourage you to read about our career ladder for physicians and also about your benefits with us. Job Description As a senior physician in the spine section, you work in both outpatient and inpatient operations with a focus on advanced spine surgery. The work is interprofessional and team-based with close collaboration with other specialties and regular multidisciplinary conferences. On-call duty is included in the position. The clinic staffs a middle-level on-call, orthopedic backup on-call, and a separate spine backup on-call line 24/7 in support of healthcare providers throughout the Southeast Healthcare Region. The spine section is responsible for thoracic and lumbar spine surgery while the neurosurgery clinic handles cervical spine. Education and research are a natural part of the work, and there are good opportunities to combine clinical practice with research, education and academic development. As a spine surgery section leader, you have a central role in developing and strengthening the operations in the long term. The position involves medical leadership of the spine operations and strategic development work in close collaboration with the operations manager, colleagues and other professionals. The role includes, among other things, developing care processes and treatment methods, taking responsibility for care programs and patient flows, contributing to research and education, and coordinating collaborations within and outside the clinic. You also have an important role in mentoring and competency development within the section. Time is allocated for administration, development work and management tasks. As a university healthcare unit, we prioritize research, with active research in almost all of our specialty areas. There is an opportunity for doctoral education with supervision at the clinic, as well as the opportunity to continue research if you are already a doctor of philosophy. Work Team The spine section's physician group is undergoing an ongoing generational transition, where several senior colleagues work part-time or are approaching retirement, while younger colleagues with a focus on spine surgery are being built up. This creates excellent opportunities for you as a senior physician and section leader to take a clear and long-term role in the operations—clinically, strategically, and as a mentor and knowledge resource. About You As a person, you are receptive, clear in your communication, and enjoy collaborating. You like to share your knowledge and actively contribute to a good work environment. You have a positive attitude, see opportunities in change, and take responsibility for your work with commitment and a holistic perspective. You have an interest in education and research and gladly function as support and knowledge resource for colleagues and other professionals. The position includes participation in the clinic's spine backup on-call line as well as some administrative work. You may also hold positions of trust and work actively in research and education. The work involves continuous dialogue with patients, family members, colleagues and other operations, which is why very good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written, is a requirement. Application and Employment Your application should contain a complete filled-in merit summary for physicians which you can find here. This must be certified. Do not forget to also attach a copy of your diploma or license. Before employment in a patient-facing role at Region Östergötland, you will be asked to complete a health declaration. Warm welcome with your application! If you need help registering in the system, contact Customer Support at 010-103 60 00, during business hours.
