JOB DUTIES Work as a detention officer involves handling and meeting individuals who have been deprived of their liberty for various reasons. Several are detained for the purpose of investigating crimes, but it can also involve shorter detentions due to intoxication. The detention officer is the person the detainee has closest contact with during their stay as a person deprived of liberty in the detention facility, and the work is conducted under the leadership of a station commander. The assignment includes administrative tasks such as documentation regarding detention and supervision, as well as more hands-on tasks such as assisting intervention activities with transport or various forms of testing. It also includes assisting the local police district with other administrative work tasks. Work pace varies over time and depends on how many people are detained. The work is conducted 24/7, all days of the week. The work places great demands on professional conduct and an approach characterized by respect for everyone's equal worth. QUALIFICATIONS This is an opportunity for you who have: • Upper secondary school diploma or equivalent knowledge acquired through experience that the employer deems relevant • Category B driving license • Good computer skills • Good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish • Good ability to express yourself, primarily in speech and comprehension, in English Meritorious for the position: • Previous experience working with people in vulnerable situations from, for example, the Police Authority, the Correctional Service, social services, healthcare, or psychiatry and/or experience in service work involving extensive customer contact that the employer deems relevant for the position. • Current work experience that includes personal meetings that the employer deems relevant • Basic understanding of legal terms acquired through education or work experience • Other language skills in addition to Swedish or English that the employer deems relevant where you can use the language in your professional practice • Experience working as a detention officer or similar • Experience with administrative work tasks such as documentation skills Personal Qualities The work tasks require that you have the ability to make responsible and wise individual assessments. You will meet people who are struggling both mentally and physically, so it is important that you are professional in your conduct, regardless of the reason for the deprivation of liberty. The work can at times be stressful, which requires that you can maintain good prioritization skills and act rationally and professionally even under pressure. The work is also physically demanding, which requires that you have good physical fitness. We would like to see that you are empathetic and understanding, but you should also be able to set boundaries and follow decisions. You have high customer service awareness and the ability to build good relationships with both the public and colleagues. It is also important that you are thorough, flexible, and enjoy working in an environment where you handle several different tasks simultaneously. We will place great emphasis on personal qualities.
