Power Systems Engineer - Application Specialist Role

Do you want to work with mission-critical systems that help keep Sweden's power system stable around the clock, year-round? As an Application Specialist at Svenska kraftnät, you'll become part of a team collectively responsible for operations, development, support, and management of one of the control room's most important tools. In the team, you contribute power systems expertise and serve as a vital link between operations and technology. About the Position In the role of Application Specialist, you'll be a key person supporting the control room, which holds ultimate responsibility for reliable transmission network operations. You'll work closely with your own team while maintaining frequent contact with system users and other parts of the organization. You'll manage varying work tempos from proactive improvement initiatives and development to solving high-priority incidents in real time. Your responsibilities will primarily include: Work with mission-critical IT systems for the control room. Updating and verifying power system models. Convergence troubleshooting of power system calculations. IT-related troubleshooting and monitoring of software and its environments. Proactive improvement work. Incident management and user support for operations and control room personnel. Installation, patching, and verification of new releases. Efficiency improvements through scripting and automation. Development of power system software. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to develop your understanding of power system calculations and models, complex IT systems with high availability and security requirements, and SCADA/EMS systems. You'll also have the chance to develop in modern work methods such as Agile and DevOps. The role is placed in the Analysis Applications A unit, which currently consists of about 20 employees divided into several teams primarily working on system development. The unit is responsible for developing, managing, and operating three mission-critical applications used for monitoring and analyzing the power system, as well as for training and certifying control room personnel. About You Required Qualifications: We're looking for someone with strong collaboration skills who is stable and able to handle critical situations in a calm and constructive manner. To succeed in this role, we also see that you are structured and analytical. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities. Furthermore, you have a university degree or master's degree in electrical engineering, energy systems, engineering physics, engineering mathematics, or another engineering degree with a master's focus on power/energy systems/energy technology. You speak and understand Swedish and English in speech and writing. It is advantageous if you have: Experience working in Linux. Experience with load flow calculations. Work experience from the power industry. Experience from previous support/user contact. About the Position As a systems and applications specialist, you are responsible for managing, developing, and administering the authority's case management system. Together with your colleague, you will work closely with operations, the IT function, and the system provider to ensure that the system meets the organization's needs for efficiency improvements and complies with legislation and authority requirements. The position is responsible for, among other things, the following: - Management and further development of the authority's case management system. - Configuration and administration of the system based on operational needs. - Handling of user permissions, roles, and access. - Troubleshooting, incident reporting, and problem-solving. - Planning, testing, and implementation of new versions and upgrades. - Documentation of system solutions, routines, and processes. As a systems and applications specialist, you play a crucial role in helping us achieve more automated and legally compliant information management.
