Support Assistant/Residential Care Assistant

Within care services, we help people with various types of disabilities. We work to facilitate and support our clients in managing the practical aspects of daily life. The goal is for them to achieve as independent a life as possible. With the client at the center, we work with individual support plans, where work is planned and carried out based on our values: trust, care, and participation. We are now seeking a colleague for our group home Apoteksgatan, located in Slite, a town on Northern Gotland. It is a residential facility with special services under LSS (Swedish Disability Support Act) and provides 24-hour care. We currently have a team of 8 staff members. Your responsibilities As a support assistant/residential care assistant, you will work alongside your colleagues to provide support, service, and care to the residents. It is a responsible position with a pedagogical perspective where you support our clients by helping with, among other things: - Personal care - Household tasks - Medication administration and other delegated health services - Accompaniment/escorting The position includes contact person responsibilities, which means you will be responsible for support plans, contact with family members, and coordination of disability support, health, and social services. You will work according to a basic schedule with daytime, evening, and overnight shifts with sleeping on-call duty. Work also includes weekend shifts according to a rotation schedule, so that everyone has the opportunity to work with all colleagues. The schedule may sometimes include working two weekends in a row and sometimes having two weekends off in a row, which creates variety and balance in the work. For the support assistant position in care services, the starting salary range is 26,800–34,000 kronor per month. For the residential care assistant position in care services, the starting salary range is 24,000–30,000 kronor per month. We apply individual salary setting. Final salary is determined based on education, relevant experience, competence, and responsibility in the role, as well as in accordance with applicable collective agreements. Who are you? We are primarily seeking you who are a support assistant and have completed upper secondary education with a focus on healthcare and care, children and leisure, or are trained as a social pedagogue and/or personal assistant. It is meritorious if you have previously worked in care for people with disabilities, have experience working with people with intellectual disabilities and cognitive difficulties. It is also meritorious if you have experience with challenging behavior, a salutogenic approach, and low-arousal communication. If you have worked with and have knowledge of sign language communication and work with pictograms, that is an extra plus. You have personal maturity and are confident in yourself, with the ability to adapt your approach based on the individual and situation. You are self-motivated and enjoy taking initiative, while also having well-developed teamwork skills and enjoying working in a team. You communicate clearly in spoken communication and work in a structured manner, with good problem-solving and analytical skills when situations change or become more complex. The work varies and requires flexibility, both regarding tasks and schedules. You see it as natural to sometimes support other units and you contribute to a professional and stable work environment. It is important that you are confident in the Swedish language, both spoken and written, as all communication and documentation take place in Swedish.
