Project Engineer for Railway Maintenance - Western Region
What does it take behind the scenes to keep railway maintenance running smoothly - every day? As a project engineer, you'll work alongside project managers, project teams, and contractors to monitor and manage our maintenance contracts. This role offers you both breadth in project work and the opportunity to gradually take on responsibility for smaller projects. Work Tasks As a project engineer in railway maintenance in Region West, you'll be part of the project team that manages and monitors our procured maintenance contracts. Together, you'll ensure that work is completed according to agreements and create the right conditions for functional and sustainable railway maintenance. You'll work closely with the project manager and gain broad insight into different aspects of projects - from finance, planning, and monitoring to risk, safety, quality, and work environment. The role involves many contact points and you'll have ongoing dialogue with both the project team and our contractors. In this role, you'll among other things: work with financial monitoring, invoice management, and forecasts monitor project schedules and contribute to planning and progress prepare and participate in meetings with contractors and other stakeholders contribute to work on quality, environment, and work environment structure and administer in our project management systems The role gives you the opportunity to develop your expertise in project management and contract monitoring while gaining broad understanding of how railway maintenance is conducted in practice. Qualifications To succeed in this role, you need to be able to create structure and drive your tasks forward. You take initiative, plan your work, and follow up on what needs to be done. Since you'll work closely with both project teams and contractors, you also need strong collaboration skills. You communicate clearly, listen to different perspectives, and adapt your communication based on situation and audience. When different needs or interests need to be balanced, you work constructively to find solutions that move the work forward. We're looking for someone who: has a university or college degree in economics or engineering subjects of at least 180 hp, or has several years of experience with similar work tasks expresses yourself well in Swedish, both spoken and written good computer skills and ability to work in different computer systems good administrative ability It's an advantage if you have: knowledge of construction law at least 1 year of work experience with financial management, risk management, and scheduling in infrastructure projects experience from the railway industry Other Information The employment will be security vetted without placement in a security class. Project Engineer
What does it take to keep an infrastructure project with many activities, decisions, and touchpoints running smoothly? As a project engineer, you create structure in the day-to-day project operations through planning, administration, and follow-up. You work closely with the project manager and ensure that documentation, materials, and activities are up to date and properly followed up. Responsibilities As a project engineer, you are part of the project management team and work closely with the project manager and other team members. A significant part of your work involves project administration. You plan and administer meetings, write meeting minutes and protocols, manage invoices and documentation, and help keep the project's information and documentation current. You also support the project manager with planning and follow-up of, for example, timelines, costs, risks, and resources. The role involves many touchpoints, and you collaborate with colleagues within Trafikverket as well as consultants, contractors, and other external parties. You need to be able to seek out information, identify what needs to be done, and drive your work forward independently. Examples of your responsibilities include: - Plan and administer project and construction meetings and write meeting minutes and protocols - Support the project manager with planning and follow-up of timelines, costs, risks, and resources - Manage invoices, documentation, and other administrative aspects of the project's financial management - Maintain and update information and documentation in the project system - Prepare and compile materials for follow-up and decision-making - Follow up on activities and agreements - Assist the project manager with internal and external communications Qualifications As a person, you: - Work carefully and methodically - Find it easy to create and maintain order even when handling multiple tasks simultaneously - Take initiative and independently drive your work forward by seeking information, identifying needs, and determining what needs to be done - Collaborate well with others and contribute to good teamwork in the project team - Communicate clearly and easily establish contact with others, both internally and externally We are looking for someone with: - University or college education of at least 180 credits in an area relevant to the position, such as construction and civil engineering, urban development, planning, or project management, or alternatively other education combined with experience we consider equivalent - Good computer skills and strong proficiency in the Office suite - Good Swedish language skills, both written and spoken - Driver's license (Category B) It is advantageous if you have: - Experience working on projects with many internal and external stakeholders - Knowledge of construction contract law - Experience in project work that has included project administration, such as meeting administration, documentation, financial management, planning, or project follow-up Additional Information Would you like a flexible workday with the opportunity to work from home?
