Become Our New Individual and Family Counselor with a Focus on Substance Abuse in Flen!
WE WANT SWEDEN'S HAPPIEST RESIDENTS. ARE YOU WITH US?
In Flen Municipality, we are committed to building something sustainable. A community where people thrive, grow, and stay. Our new and bold vision, Flen – Sweden's Happiest Municipality, is more than just words. It is a direction we have chosen together and a reminder of who we are here to serve. In every meeting with a resident, in every decision we make, in every day we shape – we should think with our hearts. And it starts with us. Now we are looking for an engaged and relationship-building individual and family counselor with experience in substance abuse issues!
THIS IS WHAT YOUR WORK WILL INVOLVE
As an individual and family counselor with us, you will have a central and varied role focused on support interventions for at-risk use, harmful use, and addiction. In your daily work, you will conduct motivational conversations – individually and in groups – and provide practical everyday support regarding housing, finances, and employment.
You will collaborate closely with internal and external partners to create cohesive solutions around the individual. The role also includes outreach and preventive work as well as lectures and information about our activities.
You will plan, analyze, and document your work in Combine and actively contribute to our methods and operational development. Working hours include daytime, evenings, and weekends based on operational needs.
THIS ROLE REQUIRES THAT YOU:
Have post-secondary education in substance abuse care, treatment, or another relevant field (for example, social worker, social pedagogue, treatment pedagogue, or alcohol and drug therapist).
Have experience working with adults with at-risk use, harmful use, or addiction, and engaging with their family members.
Have experience with motivational and support-focused work, both during active harmful use and during the recovery process.
Have good knowledge of the 12-step program.
Have good knowledge of society's support systems and how various societal actors collaborate around the individual.
Have good computer skills and experience with documentation.
Have good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written.
Have a Class B driver's license.
WE VALUE THE FOLLOWING HIGHLY:
Motivational Interviewing (MI).
Relapse prevention.
CBT.
Other evidence-based methods within the substance abuse field.
Personal experience with recovery according to the 12-step program.
YOUR PERSONAL QUALITIES
We believe you are a curious, positive, and engaged person with a genuine interest in people. You have a natural ability to make contact and build trusting relationships, while also being confident in setting clear and professional boundaries. In your approach, you are calm, respectful, and low-key, which creates a sense of security for the people you meet.
You have good judgment, personal maturity, and the perseverance required in work with change processes. As a person, you are driven, communicative, and pedagogical. You enjoy working just as much in a team as taking your own initiatives and driving your work independently.
Your work style is structured, planned, and organized, with your priorities grounded in a strong ethical approach. We are in a development phase where our operational methods are being adapted to create more cohesive, preventive, and individualized support. The expanded collaboration resulting from the new Social Services Act and the co-morbidity reform will be an important part of the organization's continued development. Therefore, we also see that you have a positive attitude toward change and a drive to actively contribute to the organization's development. We place great importance on personal suitability.
WHY WORK FOR US?
In Flen Municipality, we want to give you good conditions to thrive both at and outside of work. We offer, among other things, vacation exchange, wellness benefits, and compensation for patient fees up to high-cost protection – and there are more benefits than that. Many of our workplaces also have good commuting options. You can read more about what it's like to work for us on the municipality's website: http://flen.se.
You will be part of the Social Services Department: the division for children, youth, and adults, assigned to the support and services unit – individuals and families. With us, you will become part of an engaged and competent team consisting of individual and family counselors, family support workers, an SSPF coordinator, and members of the school social work team. The unit also has group leaders and an administrator. Together, we create a developmental work environment where different competencies complement each other. We value collaboration, knowledge sharing, and close collegial support, which provides good conditions for us to together offer professional and high-quality support to the children, youth, adults, and families we meet. The workplace is centrally located in Flen with walking distance to bus and train stations.
