In spring 2017, Falun Municipality, together with other education authorities in and outside Dalarna, initiated a collaboration with Högskolan Dalarna with the goal of increasing the number of qualified teachers in our schools. Based on a thorough assessment, we decided to offer a unique opportunity for motivated students to earn a teaching degree by combining studies with paid work. Our initiative has proven to be highly appreciated. Now, an online work-integrated subject teacher education program for grades 7–9 with the subject combination Mathematics and Physical Education and Health will also start in fall 2026. The education combines 75% studies with work as a teacher at a school for 50%. This way, university studies can be related to your own experiences from pedagogical activities, while experiences from work as a teacher are valuable for your studies at the university. The education is online and structured so that instruction can be scheduled during two fixed days per week, and work at the school takes place three fixed days per week. When you study work-integrated subject teacher education for grades 7–9, you will be qualified to teach Mathematics and Physical Education and Health. In spring 2017, Falu Municipality, together with additional school authorities in and outside Dalarna, began a collaboration with Högskolan Dalarna with the goal of increasing the number of qualified teachers in our schools. Based on a thorough assessment, we decided to offer a unique opportunity for motivated students to earn a teacher degree by combining studies and paid work.
