About the Operations Start Your Medical Career in Avesta Located in the southernmost part of Dalarna, Avesta is a vibrant industrial town with drive and faith in the future. Avesta offers both culture and nature-close quality of life. Here you get the calm of a small town with good connections to the city. Avesta Hospital, inaugurated in 1922, consists of an internal medicine and geriatric clinic. The hospital serves a population of approximately 40,000 and is a local hospital with a 24-hour emergency department. As an AT physician, you will take on responsibility early and develop your clinical skills through independent work in the emergency department with close support from experienced senior physicians. The smaller hospital environment is characterized by close collaboration and good access to collegial support, which creates excellent conditions for learning and development. The surgical portion of AT is completed at Falun Hospital and includes night shifts. Psychiatric inpatient care is conducted in Säter and Falun, and outpatient care in Avesta, Borlänge, and Falun. Primary care placement is at one of the health centers in southern Dalarna. AT in Avesta offers a secure and developmental start to a medical career with excellent opportunities to build broad clinical competence. Duties It is now time to apply for AT with entry in mid-February or mid-May 2027. Our structure: 6 months internal medicine specialties with service at Avesta Hospital 6 months surgical specialties at Falun Hospital or Mora Hospital 3 months psychiatry in the shared inpatient clinic in Falun and Säter and outpatient care in Avesta, Borlänge, or Falun 6 months general medicine in Southern Dalarna Qualifications We seek you with high social competence and good judgment. You are easy to collaborate with while having a good ability to lead. You are mature, motivated, and have good self-awareness. You have the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to successfully perform work as an AT physician. We are seeking our future specialists and would like to see that you have an interest in longer-term cooperation and a desire to help develop our operations together with us in Southern Dalarna. You have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written. Formal Competence: You must have a Swedish medical degree at the start of general service and be able to provide the corresponding diploma or the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare's decision on general service.
