The Department of Neurology is a highly specialized clinic with regional responsibility for the entire Southeastern Healthcare Region. The clinic includes a ward with an acute neurology unit, a stroke unit, a highly specialized diagnostic unit, and a monitoring unit. Additionally, there are outpatient clinics at both the University Hospital in Linköping and Vrinnevisjukhuset in Norrköping with extensive operations in all neurological diagnostic areas, as well as a neuromuscular laboratory/unit with a national mandate for highly specialized care. Our Offer Forward for Life. Region Östergötland has high ambitions and a responsible mission. It's about health and care, about our region's development, and about those who live and work here. We want to continue being at the forefront, with care, research, and education. This means daring to think differently – and having the best employees. Therefore, we offer unique opportunities for continued learning and invest in modern environments with efficient systems and tools. Many of us meet patients and loved ones, while others create the conditions for vital interventions. Here we work with fantastic people toward the same goal – to make a real difference, and forward for life. The Department of Neurology values development, education, and innovation. We know that nursing work can sometimes be challenging, which is why we work extensively to support our nurses, both in daily work and long-term. If you have plans to conduct nursing research, now or in the future, we are open to discussions about how a clinical position can be combined with research at the clinic. We highly value the students who undertake their clinical placements (VFU) at the clinic and strive for all nurses to have supervisor training. Head supervisors work very actively on the ward, and we have won the VFU prize. You can read here about our career ladder for nurses and also about your benefits with us. Job Description On unit B181, you work with both the somatic and psychological aspects of your patients' diagnoses, as diseases of the brain and nervous system affect both areas. You work with acute care, rehabilitation, and palliative care. Since patients have significant nursing care needs, you have the opportunity to become an expert in nursing care, your profession's specialist area. You train your clinical eye as our patients' conditions can deteriorate quickly, and you gain valuable medical experience and knowledge. We work closely together in teams with physicians, nursing assistants, and paramedics, and hold team rounds three times per week where all professions are represented. The neurology on-call service is stationed at the university hospital also during nighttime, which provides a short response time when needed and offers great reassurance as a nurse. You always have a nurse colleague to collaborate with, and the ward has relatively high staffing of nursing assistants relative to patients' care needs. Introduction occurs during daytime, tailored to your individual needs. We believe that an individually adapted start leads to a confident employee. We have developed our orientation program which includes, among other things, a ProAct course and a mentorship program during the first year of employment. We also offer a Clinical Foundation Year to all our newly qualified nurses. Work Team There are seven nurse leaders at the clinic. Their tasks include driving specific processes from a nursing care perspective and serving as mentors and knowledge support to less experienced colleagues. This provides the clinic with good conditions for development and support for new employees. The clinic has approximately 150 employees. About You You have a nursing degree. Experience in neurology, acute care, and/or monitoring care is advantageous. You have good Swedish proficiency in both speech and writing. As a person, you take responsibility and adapt easily to changing circumstances. It is important that you can work in a structured manner and prioritize your efforts. You also have good teamwork abilities. Application and Employment We are seeking someone interested in a rotating position working day/evening/night shifts, but if you prefer to work permanent nights with reduced weekly hours to 32 hours, that option is also available. There is also the possibility of some partial leave if you wish. We have a preference schedule and work two out of five weekends. We work with continuous contracts, so please submit your application as soon as possible. Before employment in patient-facing work within Region Östergötland, you will be required to complete a health declaration. We warmly welcome your application! Work Team The spine section's physician group is undergoing an ongoing generational transition, where several senior colleagues work part-time or are approaching retirement, while younger colleagues with a focus on spine surgery are being built up. This creates excellent opportunities for you as a senior physician and section leader to take a clear and long-term role in the operations—clinically, strategically, and as a mentor and knowledge resource. About You As a person, you are receptive, clear in your communication, and enjoy collaborating. You like to share your knowledge and actively contribute to a good work environment.
