Urban Planner for Sustainable Community Development

The Position and Your Responsibilities We are looking for an urban planner who wants to contribute to Botkyrka Municipality's strategic work on sustainable community development and physical planning. In this role, you will work across the municipality on issues that affect Botkyrka's long-term development, such as comprehensive planning, strategic infrastructure questions, and housing provision. You will develop analyses, plans, and decision-making materials that contribute to sustainable, attractive, and accessible community development. The work takes place in close collaboration with other urban planners in the unit and with other departments and operations within the municipality. You will also collaborate with municipalities, regions, authorities, and other external actors. The assignment encompasses both long-term planning questions and projects, as well as development tasks within community development, mobility, and physical planning. Your main responsibilities: - Contribute to the municipality's strategic work on sustainable community development and physical planning - Develop analyses, investigations, strategies, and planning materials - Prepare decision-making materials and process matters for political consideration - Compile and make data, knowledge, and results accessible to the organization - Provide support in processes and development work related to physical planning and community development - Participate in projects and assignments together with internal and external actors As an urban planner, you communicate issues regarding sustainable community development and physical planning both internally and externally. This means you present information and adapt materials for different target audiences and contexts. What We're Looking For You have an academic degree in urban planning, physical planning, traffic planning, transportation planning, urban development, or environment. Alternatively, you have another relevant academic degree that the employer considers equivalent. You have experience through work, internships, or studies with issues related to physical planning and sustainable community development. Other Requirements: - Knowledge of municipal planning processes and the conditions for sustainable urban and community development - Experience in compiling and analyzing information - Experience in preparing and presenting clear materials in Swedish with text and visual content We consider it a merit if you have: - Experience with comprehensive planning, detailed planning, or regional planning - Experience developing or implementing strategies, plans, investigations, or decision-making materials - Experience with infrastructure or mobility planning - Experience collaborating with national authorities, such as the County Administrative Board, the Swedish Transport Administration, or the National Board of Housing, Building and Planning - Experience working with climate, environment, or sustainable development related to physical planning - Experience working or interning in a politically governed organization As an urban planner, you are analytical and structured. You will lead and coordinate the municipality's long-term planning in this field and develop strategies, analyses, and decision-making documentation that shape Botkyrka's future development. A central part of your assignment is to manage the connections between physical planning, transportation infrastructure, climate adaptation, preparedness, and civil defense. By identifying needs, dependencies, and consequences, you contribute to robust, accessible, and sustainable societal development. You will drive issues from early strategic stages through implementation and represent the municipality's interests in dialogue with, among others, the Swedish Transport Administration, Region Stockholm, other municipalities, and national authorities. The work also involves close collaboration with municipal departments and various professions to create shared priorities and well-anchored decision-making documentation.
