Senior Network Technician (Temporary Position)
At Trelleborg, we work together for a growing successful municipality where life is good. Our 61 villages and 21 city districts are creative meeting places that buzz with life. Here we want things, talk about them, and come as we are. This means we welcome others in the same generous and curious way. Welcome to join the journey! The Department of Technical Services is Trelleborg Municipality's enabling department. We are a reliable, secure, and value-creating resource that works proactively, efficiently, and sustainably together with those who live, work, and stay in Trelleborg Municipality. The department's five divisions are responsible across different areas for planning, managing, and developing public spaces. We do this, for example, by caring for the municipality's public areas, waste management and sewage handling, water supply, and infrastructure. We also provide internal services such as operation and maintenance of the municipality's facilities, facility cleaning, system administration, and IT support. Since everything Trelleborg Municipality does is based on our values of openness, respect, and responsibility, it is important and crucial that these values are just as natural for you as they are for us in our work. Trelleborg is growing and several new operations, properties, and projects will become separate sites in the future. You will have the opportunity to help develop a large and mission-critical IT environment where your contribution makes a real difference for residents, operations, and the municipality's future development. You will follow the entire chain from idea, design, and architecture to implementation, operations, and further development, and see the results of your work in practice. We actively invest in competence development through training, certifications, conferences, and experience exchange so you can continue to develop as a network technician. The Workplace In Digitalization and IT, we are approximately 40 employees delivering stable, secure, and operations-focused IT services. The IT Operations unit consists of 10 employees with broad responsibility for infrastructure, system operations, data centers, and networks across the municipal group. We work unpretentiously and closely together. Good ideas are welcome here, and we listen to improvements that strengthen the whole for the municipality and our operations. You will work in a unit with other network technicians and system technicians to further develop the IT environment. One of our colleagues will be on study leave until 2027-12-10. We are now looking for you to replace our colleague during his absence. There may be opportunities for extension. Role and Responsibilities You will become part of a comprehensive and varied technical environment with high demands for availability, security, and documentation. The environment includes approximately 750 switches, several sites, wireless networks, segmented network environments, own data centers, and new establishments that successively grow as separate sites. Here there is both stable management and exciting development. You will work with routing, switching, firewalls, network security, segmentation, IPAM, and documentation, while contributing to shaping standards and technical directions for the future. As a senior network technician, you will have a central expert role responsible for developing, managing, and future-proofing the municipality's network. You work both strategically and operatively with architecture, design, security, lifecycle, and changes, and will be responsible for the network connecting schools, preschools, Trelleborg Port, water and sewage facilities, mission-critical operations, and the municipality's data centers. The network technician role is broad and gives you the opportunity to both drive development and be close to the technical reality. You take technical responsibility for parts of the municipality's network platform and work on developing network architecture, design principles, and technical standards. You plan and implement changes with clear risk assessment and follow-up, while strengthening network security through segmentation, secure configurations, and firewall work. The work also includes troubleshooting incidents, analyzing root causes, and suggesting preventive measures. You contribute to projects related to new operations, construction, and technical establishments and ensure quality in IPAM, network documentation, and lifecycle planning. The role also involves being a technical advisor to colleagues, projects, and external suppliers and sharing knowledge and contributing to common competence development within IT Operations. On-call duty is part of the position and normally occurs every tenth week. Compensation is paid according to the current collective agreement. Qualifications We are looking for someone with relevant post-secondary education in IT or equivalent experience that the employer can assess as equivalent. You have several years of experience with networks and security at a senior level and very good knowledge of routing, switching, network design, and firewalls. You are confident in your technical skills, take responsibility for the whole and quality, and find it easy to collaborate with both technical specialists and operations staff. You are organized, security-conscious, and consistently document your work. It is meritorious if you have experience with Aruba and HPE, firewall management in larger IT environments, data center infrastructure, Linux in operations environments, and working methods according to ITIL or similar frameworks. The position requires a B-class driver's license for manual transmission vehicles. This recruitment uses continuous selection. Welcome with your application!
