Senior Electrical Engineer Energy Systems

For several years, we at Toyota in Mjölby have been developing advanced complete lithium-ion battery systems for our forklifts. The technological leap in lithium-ion batteries has opened new opportunities for us to offer our customers higher efficiency and lower environmental impact, among other benefits. We are now seeking an Electrical Engineer for the Energy Systems group within R&D to join our battery development projects. In this role, you will be an important part of our battery development projects, where you will have the opportunity to work with exciting and innovative solutions for future energy systems. Do you want to work on something that really matters? Do you want to be part of developing the next generation of lithium battery systems and contribute to the transformation that is changing the energy industry? With us, you will work at the forefront of technology, where innovation, sustainability, and rapid development create opportunities to shape tomorrow's energy solutions. We are seeking a senior electrical engineer who wants to take a key role in our product development. In this role, you will contribute not only with your technical expertise in electrical engineering and electrical systems, but also with your experience, judgment, and ability to help the team move forward when the path is not always clear. You will work through the entire product development process, from concept and system selection to verification and implementation. The work includes development of electrical systems, selection and integration of electrical components, and design in a 3D CAD environment with associated PLM systems. You will collaborate closely with design engineers, systems engineers, production, procurement, and other specialist functions to create robust and competitive solutions. But what really makes a difference in this role is your ability to turn experience into action. We are seeking someone who can navigate complex questions where not all information is readily available. You have strong technical judgment, based on experience and the ability to balance quality, cost, time, and risk. This makes you confident in providing well-founded recommendations and making direct decisions even when all answers are not on the table. You can identify what facts may be missing and through careful risk assessment determine when it is right to move forward and when further investigation is needed. You have the ability to break down complex problems, create structure, and make difficult decisions easier to understand for others. With a clear holistic perspective, you can see the connections between different technical areas and understand the consequences of different choices. You are a natural role model who builds trust through knowledge, attentiveness, and good judgment. You enjoy sharing your experiences, supporting and coaching colleagues, and contributing to the development of both people and working methods. You don't need to be a manager to lead others. Your communicative, unpretentious, and collaboration-oriented approach makes people grow and contributes to a culture where people dare to take responsibility, learn new things, and develop together. We believe you have experience with: Electrical engineering and development of electrical systems Selection, dimensioning, and integration of electrical components Working in 3D CAD environments PLM systems and structured product data management Product development from idea to finished product Technical trade-offs between function, quality, cost, and manufacturability We believe the best solutions arise when people with different perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds work together. Therefore, we welcome applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences. If the role feels right for you, but you don't meet every point in the requirements profile, we would still like you to apply. With us, you will have the opportunity to make a real impact, develop tomorrow's solutions, and at the same time contribute to lifting the people around you.
