Substitute Childcare Provider at Reggio Preschool in Örby

We are looking for an experienced childcare provider who wants to work in an exploratory, project-based manner and stay close to children's learning processes. Vi som Växer started its operations in 1993 and today runs five preschools in Stockholm and Nacka Municipality. We have approximately 75 employees and work in a Reggio Emilia-inspired approach, with a clear focus on exploratory, project-based, and aesthetic learning processes. We are now seeking an experienced, curious, and collaborative childcare provider who wants to work as a substitute during parental leave. You should want to step into an environment where exploratory methods are central. We are looking for someone who is eager and engaged in working project-based "to the fullest" – following children's processes over time, being attentive to their questions and expressions, and contributing with a strong aesthetic, workshop, and atelier mindset in daily work. At our preschool, all staff members have actively chosen to work with an exploratory approach. We want you to also be someone who seeks out this type of environment – where pedagogical documentation, reflection, materials, environment, and collegial learning are important parts of the work. About the role As a childcare provider with us, you are an important part of the work team. You are expected to contribute with enthusiasm, initiative, and a willingness to take the lead. Together with your colleagues, you drive development work, follow children's projects, and create environments where children's curiosity, play, and learning can flourish. You need to have a strong ability to collaborate, listen, and share both experiences and knowledge. With us, reflection together with colleagues is an important tool for developing both the preschool and your own professional role. We appreciate it if you have experience working with pedagogical documentation, project work, creative materials, atelier work, or other aesthetic expressions. Most importantly, you have a genuine interest in children's exploration and a desire to develop further in a Reggio Emilia-inspired approach. We are looking for someone who: - is educated - has a clear commitment to the preschool's mission - wants to work in an exploratory, project-based, and process-oriented way - is curious about children's questions, hypotheses, and expressions - has an aesthetic interest and preferably experience with workshops, ateliers, or creative work - is comfortable with collaboration and sees the work team as an important part of the pedagogical work - wants to contribute to a warm, professional, and learning work environment - has the ability to see the needs of children, the group, and the preschool as a whole Children, environment, and learning Your task is, together with the work team, to provide children with a safe, stimulating, and meaningful day at preschool. Care, play, outdoor time, creative activities, conversations, and exploration are central parts of the work. You are present in children's play and learning processes, ensure that all children are noticed, and work to make every child feel included in the group. We work based on the Curriculum for Preschool, the Education Act, and other governing documents, as well as Vi som Växer's own goals and policy documents. As an experienced childcare provider, you are expected to participate in planning, documentation, reflection, development conversations, and work with action plans for children who need extra support and stimulation. Collaboration with guardians Contact with guardians is an important part of the role. We are looking for someone who has a respectful and attentive approach and who works together with the team to ensure that families feel safe, welcome, and heard. What we offer With us, you get to work in an environment where pedagogical work is taken seriously. We want to be a learning organization for both children and adults, where there is room for deepening, reflection, and development. There is much more to tell, but we prefer to start with a personal meeting. Send a personal email where you tell us about yourself, your experience, and why you are seeking out an exploratory and project-based approach. We look forward to hearing from you.

We combine Montessori pedagogy, outdoor pedagogy, and a language development-focused approach. We view the child as competent, curious, and capable. The educator's role is to create conditions for children to explore, communicate, try things themselves, and gradually develop independence and responsibility. Outdoor Pedagogy Approximately 60–70% of our activities take place outdoors, year-round and in all weather conditions. The yard, forest, parks, and surrounding area are natural parts of our learning environments. With us, outdoor time is not a break from pedagogy – it is a significant part of pedagogy that happens outdoors. Therefore, you must be comfortable working outdoors even when it rains, snows, or is cold. We work according to the principle "there is no bad weather – only bad clothing." You should be able to inspire children toward movement, curiosity, and the joy of discovery, and convey a positive attitude toward outdoor pedagogy to parents/guardians as well. Montessori Pedagogy Montessori training is a merit but not a requirement. However, you need to be interested in Montessori pedagogy and willing to learn, understand, and follow our approach. For us, this means believing in children's own abilities, encouraging independence, and being able to observe, guide, and inspire without automatically doing things for the child. We expect that you want to develop in your pedagogy and over time also be able to inspire others toward our approach. Language and Communication Language and communication are important parts of our pedagogical mission. You need to have excellent Swedish language skills, both spoken and written, and be able to express yourself clearly, with nuance, and professionally. You should be able to communicate independently with children, parents/guardians, and colleagues, as well as understand policy documents and participate in pedagogical documentation. You should also be a good language role model for the children and actively work on language and communication development in daily activities – through conversations, questions, storytelling, reading aloud, play, concept development, and by putting words to children's experiences and learning. You need to be able to adapt your language and communication to children's ages and linguistic abilities, and create many opportunities for children to express their own thoughts, feelings, and ideas. Recruitment Process Candidates who meet our basic requirements and submit complete applications will proceed to an interview. The next step in the recruitment process is a digital work test. The purpose is to assess your ability to communicate clearly and professionally in writing and to express yourself in situations that occur in daily preschool life, for example, in communication and pedagogical documentation. This is followed by a practical work test in the facility, where we assess, among other things, interaction and communication with children, initiative, independence, collaboration skills, and pedagogical approach. The final step in the process is reference checks. Before You Submit Your Application Read through the announcement and our requirements carefully before applying. We ask that you only apply for the position if you meet all mandatory requirements and feel that our approach with outdoor pedagogy, Montessori, independence, and working with children ages 1–6 years is right for you. Applications that do not meet the mandatory requirements will not proceed in the recruitment process. How to Apply Submit: - CV - Brief cover letter - Copy of diploma or certificate proving your childcare provider training - Your salary expectations In your cover letter, we would like you to briefly answer the following questions: - Why is it a good fit for you to work at a preschool where 60–70% of activities take place outdoors year-round? - What does children's independence mean to you in practice? - How do you view working according to Montessori pedagogy, even if you don't have previous Montessori training? - Give a concrete example of a situation where you saw what needed to be done and took initiative without being asked. Note We kindly but firmly decline all contact from recruitment agencies, staffing companies, job coaches, matching organizations, recruitment advertisers, and other companies or organizations offering services related to recruitment. We only wish to hear from candidates who are applying for the advertised position themselves.
