About the Unit 161st Air Defense Battalion's primary mission is to be responsible for monitoring Sweden's airspace and air operations control; the battalion is engaged in operations on a daily basis. Other tasks include operating and protecting fortified command posts as well as positioning mobile sensors and radio systems throughout Sweden. The Battalion Staff primarily works with coordination and preparation of matters at all conflict levels, from peace to war. The staff consists of four sections, one of which is the Implementation Section where this position is also located. Main Work Tasks In your role as Technical Chief Battalion, you are placed on the 161st Air Defense Battalion Staff. You work in close collaboration with other staff members where you have central responsibility for the battalion's technical service and become an important part of the work to plan, coordinate, and lead the battalion's operations. You support the Battalion Commander, Staff Chief, and subordinate companies in logistics-related matters. You plan both long-term and operationally. One day may involve developing new innovative solutions and the battalion's long-term equipment maintenance, and the next day you are occupied with solving concrete technical problems and providing support with repairs. You have many internal and external contact points within the battalion and the rest of the Swedish Armed Forces and translate operational needs into practical executable logistics where equipment maintenance is the focus. Ultimately, together with other staff members, you enable and implement the operations companies' ability to carry out their primary tasks.
