Social Pedagogue Grades 4-9 Håbo Municipality
About the Workplace
Västerängsskolan is a K–9 school centrally located in Bålsta, with proximity to nature, commuter train, swimming pool, and ice rink. The school has approximately 380 students from preschool through grade 9, as well as after-school program activities.
We work from a strong relational approach where safety, well-being, and good academic results go hand in hand. Our values-based work is based on HEART – Helpfulness, Equality, Honesty, Respect, Safety, and Responsibility.
At Västerängsskolan, we work according to IBIS (Inclusive Behavior Support in School), a research-based approach that strengthens positive behaviors, academic focus, and an accessible learning environment for all students. We also collaborate with SISU Idrottsutbildarna in an initiative that promotes movement, health, community, and safe relationships among our students.
With us, you become part of a committed organization where we work together to ensure every student succeeds, develops, and feels safe at school.
About the Position
As a social pedagogue, you work primarily with students in grades 4–9. You work preventively, promotively, and interventively with a focus on student safety, attendance, social development, and academic focus.
You are a secure adult who builds trusting relationships with students, guardians, and staff. Through your relationship-building work, you contribute to strengthening students' motivation, self-esteem, and opportunities to reach their goals.
We are looking for someone who wants to be close to students' daily lives and who sees the value in being where the students are—in the classroom, in the hallways, during breaks, and in various social settings.
Responsibilities
In your role as social pedagogue, you will, among other things:
Work preventively and promotively to increase safety, well-being, and academic focus.
Be an active part of the school's safety work.
Conduct supportive and motivating conversations with students.
Work to promote school attendance and prevent problematic absenteeism.
Participate in and lead initiatives around social development and group-strengthening work.
Handle and follow up on conflicts and safety matters.
Collaborate with guardians, social services, and other external parties as needed.
Support school staff on social pedagogy matters.
Be visible in students' daily lives through presence during the school day and during breaks.
Contribute to the development of the school's values-based work based on HEART.
We Are Looking for You Who:
Have a degree as a social pedagogue or other education that the employer deems equivalent. Have experience working with children and young people in school activities. Have a strong ability to create and maintain trusting relationships. Are confident in leading conversations with students, guardians, and staff. Have a solution-focused and professional approach. Can work independently while thriving in close collaboration with others. Have good knowledge of the Swedish language and a structured working method. Have a strong ability to document and follow up on interventions, and good knowledge of Swedish language, both verbally and in writing. Can express yourself clearly and professionally in interactions with students, guardians, colleagues, and external partners.
Personal Qualities
We place great emphasis on personal suitability. To succeed in this role, we see that you are secure, engaged, and relationship-building. You have a genuine interest in children and young people's development and well-being, and you have the ability to maintain calm, professionalism, and capability even in complex situations.
You share our conviction that good relationships are the foundation for learning and that every student should be met with high expectations, warmth, and respect.
What We Offer
With us, you have the opportunity to be part of developing a school where safety, knowledge, and community are central. You become an important part of a workplace where collaboration, development, and students' best interests are always the starting point.
