Unit Manager at the Research Ethics Committee

The Research Ethics Committee is seeking an experienced and dynamic leader who wants to help establish and lead a new unit responsible for ethical review of clinical trials of pharmaceuticals and medical devices. The unit consists of experienced case handlers and research-trained investigators. Together, you will contribute to providing our decision-making departments with complete decision-making materials and qualified support in their work. This is a unique opportunity for you who wants to help shape an operation of great importance to Swedish research and life science – and at the same time contribute to the authority's important mission of protecting people in research. About the role As unit manager, you are responsible for: Establishing and developing the unit and ensuring efficient and lawful handling of high quality. Creating structures and working methods for the new operation, including routines, processes, and quality assurance work. Planning and leading the unit's work both strategically and in day-to-day operations. Following up on the unit's goals and contributing to the authority's overall development. Supporting employees and creating a culture characterized by collaboration, responsibility, engagement, and entrepreneurial spirit. The unit will have approximately 10 employees. The case handlers have extensive experience in case handling at the authority; the investigators are a new personnel category being recruited in parallel. The authority also has a subject matter expert for these reviews. You work closely with the authority's subject matter expert and two other unit managers; you report to the operations manager. Who are you? You have: Several years of management experience with responsibility for personnel and operations. Work experience from public sector operations and very good understanding of government administration. Relevant academic degree in medicine, pharmacy, biomedicine, or similar. Very good skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written. It is meritorious if you have: Experience in establishing new operations or developing processes. Research experience or work close to research environments. Knowledge of regulatory processes in the pharmaceutical field. Knowledge of ethical review of research. The review is conducted by 500 external members, both scientific members and representatives of the general public, led by 42 judges in a total of 21 departments, where science, ethics, and law are combined to promote a responsible research environment in Sweden. The authority's office supports the departments with case handling and more, as well as is responsible for the authority's other administration. The office has approximately 30 employees. Most are case handlers, but there is also a scientific coordinator, chief legal counsel, subject matter expert, finance manager, case handling managers, and statistics manager. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES In the role of Recycling Center Attendant, you are the first person customers come into contact with at our recycling centers. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone who has previously worked in a service-oriented profession and has experience with customer service. You have a strong interest in environmental and resource management as well as a valid B driving license. It is advantageous if you have training in waste and chemical handling or have a forklift operator certificate for goods handling.
